What should I buy next?

rob fragilenine from everywhere on 2001-07-15 18:36 [#00015241]

The next cd I will buy will probably be one of these (if not
drukqs):

:: mike & rich >> expert knob twiddlers
:: aphex singles collection
:: afx >> ab4
:: autechre >> confield
:: autechre >> lp5
point me in the right direction, also tell me what the
autechre albums sound like. I only have access to the two
autechre cds mentioned above, so don't suggest anything
else.

Get Lp5 it´s easier to get into than Confield and better
than those Aphex records. Lp5 contains Autechre´s trademark
complex rhythmstructures and some lush melodies sprinkled
here and there. Yeah, it´s pretty good, really.

I would have to go for LP5 on that one. Aphex Twin in my
opinion is better than Autechre, but still that album is
brilliant, its wonderful on the ears. Youd love it. Trust..
trust..

what to do what to do..

i think getting Two Lone Swordsmen's, "Stay Down" would not
be a bad idea. but you could also listen to |REFLEX| because
i quite agree.

i would say go with the singles collection. i've never
heard the two autechre albums, but i'm familiar with tri
repetae and amber and while good, they don't move me like
the twin. also, "sloth" on AB4 is one of the most beautiful
things he has ever done.

Paul: obviously you don't know what your saying, .... well
you haven't heard LP5... its not like their other works at
all. I love it. Get that.

Lp5 is my favorite album period. The reviews people write
for it are funny. People seem to love or hate it. I suppose
pecimists love it and optimists hate it. Some claim it has
no humanity. Track 2 is soooo good on headphones, it's
undescribable. This is the most intelligent music I know.
It's just about 2wice as good as ANY non-autechre music that
I've heard (IMO). They don't rely on a fast pace only (like
squarepusher) to make it interesting. Some songs are slow
but still composed in a manner that defies comprehension.
The sounds are all tweaked and evolve constantly. This is
the theme for the evolution of technology.

It's so disturbing. These are the thoughts you think when
you or something you love is being destroyed painfully, and
you cannot stop it. It's so real. It's like using a
microscope to view the details of something once thought of
as simple, like a rock, every detail in perfect clarity.
They are "wastful" with sound like nature, creating more
spores than could possible survive to reproduce. They must
be wickedly intelligent. I know they do a lot of reading.
Philosophy was their brain material for confield. I guess a
dying science wouldn't produce such great music. But there
were some extremely scary philosophical thoughts like track
6. Whatever they were thinking about is terrifying.

I'd go for Mike'n'Rich, but get it on vinyl if you can, bcuz
some of it sounds amazing on 45rpm.
