Well, as far as I know, if the younger partener is under the age of 16 parential consent is required before they can have sex with someone who is more than 4 years older than them. If their partener is less than 4 years older, however, it doesn't really matter. After they turn 16 the only consent they require is their own. I remember a year or two years ago there was an article about sexual predators using the internet to find children. There was the story of a man who found a 13 (almost 14) year old in BC and convinced her to run away with him. About 2 weeks after she ran away from home, they were discovered, and he was charged with stachutory rape. The judge only given a couple months because of how near she was to the age of consent. I don't condone this kind of action... cause getting with a 13 year old is pretty sic. I just wanted to bring this up. |

I think we're getting a little sexist here, folks. Most, I would guess, 17 year old females are somewhat mature enough to go out with a 19 year old, by that age, but some are not, and it goes vice versa, too. Also someone that age like 17 might not want to go out with someone older 18, because, yanno, it's all about the "male dominance" and chicks aren't going to go out with a guy they feel intimidated by because he's older than them. |

yeah well saying that is quite contradictory to what you've been saying to me so far Tax. Its not up to you, its also about culture.. as I said in Japan the sexual age of consent for a male is 12. That's not too sick to them apparently. I think its 13 for females in some places too even.. |

Who the hell "gets" consent anyway? If a 12 year old chick is slutty enough to have sex when she is that age, no matter what country she lives in, whether America or Canada or any other modernized nation, she isn't going to bother to tell anyone that would try to stop her, right? |

Its not contradictory. Why does everyone seem to read that I am pro-pedophile when I say I don't think its wrong for someone who is 15-17 to date people over the age of 18. Besides, I don't judge people in japan for letting 12 year olds have sex if they want to have sex. |

That's not the point Deathsmith. These are laws we're talking about. If she's immature enough to get FOOLED into having sex, (Which is in fact what it is as she's too young to even know about what sex is or what being a slut means) its called statutory rape and if found out the person (presumably of older age) will be put in prison. |

if she was 17, then it wouldn't be bad I don't think... I'm only 19, so two years isn't that bad... but if she was 16, I wouldn't pursue anything there... I dunno, 16 just seems to young, and it is three years... age is a fine line no doubt... |

Age isn't a fine line when both people are old. For example, my dad is seven years older than my mom, and although that isn't to say that he would go out with her when she was 11 and he was 18, since they are married and older, now, it really doesn't make a difference. But when both people are young, a single year age difference can MAKE a huge difference in the relationship |

yeah I know, that's kinda what I mean... I would never date anyone 15 or 16, that's just too young... it's only 3 or 4 years younger then me, but there's a lot more difference then just the years, there's the maturity factor, etc, etc... 17 isn't so bad I don't think, maybe, but I guess it depends on the person... |
