Powerbook is a mac right?

I have a friend who sold their mac for a pc because the mac
wasn't living up to expectations for making music with.

that's bollocks. PowerBooks running OS X 10.1 are by far the
superior computer to use.
But if you've got X 10.0 you're fucked.

Just recently all the big companies have brought out OS X
versions of their apps, like Reason, Cubase, Ableton Live.
And Mac OS X is THE stable system. I know, my Dad has a
Powebook running it and the system hasn't crashed yet (in
five months!) He doesn't use music apps but that shows that
the system is very stable.

G4 powerbook is fucken wicked .. tho i'd be somewhat
reluctant getting a loan for something like that .. what
soundcard are you thinking of using?

Its tricky .. technology always gets better etc. Only
concern re: powerbook is (depending how serious you are ..
can have a lot of add on costs .. but i guess that goes part
n parcel with portables). such as the aforementioned
soundcard, RAM, hard drive (tho a firewire @ 7200 harddrive
might be the go ..

it seems strange that there's not more firewire external
audio devices like MotU828 ..

anyway .. i'm rambling.

go nuts.

oh .. would you get protools, or do you already have it ..
coz, i'd probably recommend you use Logic Audio or Cubase
(or Sonar - tho i don't know much about it) .. ? Cubase SX
looks pretty fucken wicked actually ..
