... by Nada Surf, listen to this song if your in high school [im not in high school anymore.... over a year ago I finished]. This song is pretty sweet, the video aint bad either, but I see the video as it should be like a school shooting or something evil like that.. really well done. This song is great..... download it.

got it.
Very good but it makes my speakers go mad. Hmmm... odd.
The vid fits the song very well, without being a lame satire off jocks, frats and all that other crap you americans seem to have at school.

Its not the same at all. Have you been to both Canada and America? Especially Western Canada? How can some people in the world be so ignorant about the rest of the main countries!? Dont you people learn stuff in school?

"jocks, frats and all that other crap you americans seem to have at school. "
hm...... canadian schools don't seem to be quite as segregated in that way as american ones (at least where i live)
that is, from the impression i get from tv and americans themselves
my school doesn't have little groups of jocks, nerds, bimbos, goths etc....
people seem to be more spread out, i guess

Shit my old high school was about 2000 people and there were TONS of people in large groups that had smaller groups within.. you know like the closer friends and stuff. but all part of bigger :same: groups. I was in that shit too man, I had a blast! My high school was like some Nation Lampoons movie or something... classic stories everyday.

Aminal: no not really, but we are very different as a country... Ive been all around America 2 times and ive been all around Canada a few fuckin times and I know large differences, obviously in law and the people/system. And personalities range anywhere so its hard to really say.... but everything down to the grocery stores, music shops, road signs.. all thats stuff, different.

VERY shit.
Well, for a start they are called secondary schools. My school is located in the grounds of this old abbey. The school building is cool, but some of the people are complete dickheads. Its more black and white here. Barry/townie or scater.
However, in sixth form, its much cooler. All the idiots go and the cool people are left. Its a much more laid back attitude.
Although american culture is seeping through now-a-days and its slowly turning into a high school. Damn you saved by the bell!

I hate cliques and all that crap... imagine defining yourself and your life in such a limited way... I'm a ''skater'', I'm a ''goth'', I'm a ''prep'', and having to limit yourself to the rules of your group... ick. I always hated that shit.

Who says you need to limit yourself because you are a prep or skater? thats their choice, in other peoples eyes id see myself as a prep/style guy with shiny clothes, boots and nice pants or jacket..... I mean..... so people could label me a prep or something I guess, but I know what iam, just me..... Im all over the map.

I don't know many people who are very interesting... people basically limit themselves or risk being ''uncool'' or something. it may just be where I am, everyone knows everyone else, reputation is so important... people try extra hard to fit in and be ''cool''... makes me want to vomit...
The skaters spend all their time skating and smoking pot, the preps do whatever it is they do, the goths act gothic... there doesn't seem to be a middle ground.
Actually, it's not quite as bad now that I'm in college... I guess that was mainly high school. Although there's still definitely the cool/uncool thing. You ahve do look and act a certain way, which I don't. College students are no more mature... they just think they are. Apparently drinking makes you a man, cuz once people get to the legal age, it's all that seems to matter...

There was a middleground.. the people who really only smoked a little pot [my schools name was Scona, so it was nicknamed Stona, for many years.. many many] and well, everyone smoked pot... right next to the drug central of the city at the time and still now...
it was a great place to go, like i saw it was like a movie.. everyday.. great times..
the preps did their thing... everyone did, its not so wrong what do you expect? its only normal that people form groups of a like people and do their own thing whatever it may be.

Ophecks, I totally agree with what you said about college students and drinking. There are still cliques here, "cool" & "uncool" people.
The fact that you mentioned that song brought back a lot of memories. I haven't heard it in such a long time. I remember it quite well, the video too. I liked it back when it was popular.
