dogwash. it's one of those terms that hasn't quite got the siphon going, i'm afraid -- if everyone used it, it'd work, but it's rare, so it doesn't. a dogwash is hacker parlance for dodging an important, but annoying task by doing an unimportant, but tolerable task. as in: "nevermind doing the taxes, the dog needs a bath" and it's been raining and i thought: oh, ha, the nature carwash washes the dog too. now i'm thinking: why DO people bathe their dogs? why not just wait until it's raining and go outside with the hound and a bottle of shampoo? is this an engineer perspective or am i even more far out on this one? |
