eh i should tinker with that more. it's a good thot tho

despite that, that's a p. decent version for just a
dancefloor mix i suppose

that i do things by ear, mostly. too much of these
frequencies there in this thing, etc. and throughout the
various takes you can kind of hear me clawing my way up the
hill by my teef, just somehow, the mud and cotton gradually
getting teased out of the way.

so i am happy with the one i released as merely "SASS" and
that was the proper one, and the mix is p. alright. stereo
to disk and then normalize is all

but then if you listen to SASS [acid stomper]
normalize ~ yeahhhmeh

so i tried a ~ stab at betterment ~ and i think i did make all
the sounds clearer, the high end, sounds more sorted, but i
bodged up the mids and bass? with the multiband comp freq
ranges?

then i think: no, wait, shit, this mix was shit, it
was missing some of that in the first place

so i'm back and forth all over on it except i think i'll
turn down the low end on the comp slices, maybe

and people say "oh if you could just do stems" and "oh if
the mix were better" and here, with simply SASS, there
aren't stems, but the mix is better.

that, returning to go, i do things by ear. i set up a
notch-ish EQ and sweep around and... try to determine where
i'm losing energy. wasting bandwidth. but then we get to
compressor transients and i'm a moron and i'm killing my
bass.

so, genuine question: can someone just punch up a cheat
sheet of what i'm doing wrong? just a bullet point list,
specific frequencies, compressor knob settings. because then
i can punch it in, listen to what it does, and then do that
by ear too
