LAZY_TITLE chip. melodic.

LAZY_TITLE the sensation of hurtling through the windows
95 3D pipe screensaver at 3x speed. more of the hedfuck i
want to study

LAZY_TITLE and yeah this seems a good tangent to give up
on that youtube channel

oh
ohh

that first off, this is brilliant. i like messing around
with a DDR face-off at the mall but i never really felt the
urge to put the quarters in and get good at it, even though
i'm sure i could. i kept finding myself, actually, annoyed
the corners don't do anything. it constrains my motion in a
very irritating way.

this, however. it's just undulating patterns and colors with
a guitar hero screen and you can solve the problem any
number of ways. instead of the precise fucking arrows, it's
a grid -- which i wouldn't get right away, but i would fare
so much better with. it fixes so many of the problems
that...

...essentially, this game could probably destroy my life, so
i'm not going to touch it. that i would be really fucking
good, but perhaps not quite world-class good. and i've
already had that experience writing music. ouch

second, though, i'm listening to this... walking around
outside; cooking stir fry. that this has parameters.

in particular -- and i love this -- that it's constrained to
two minutes, and since it's an arcade game intended to get
quarters, it's designed to be a crack rush that leaves you
impulsively wanting to do it again, even if you were shit at
it. genius.

but then you're also constrained to the mechanics of the
game, and you have to map this to do-able human motions, and
it should be a good song too

salvage yard.

LAZY_TITLE ~ like i said. fixes the problems of ddr. i
imagine these machines are outrageously expensive, you'll
have to visit japan and hunt them down, etc. but this vid,
it does kind of feel like... i know a few downtown bars,
like the one with a small bowling alley, i suspect they
don't know they know they need this; they could bankroll it

"chorus" of mother ship, it hit me, is basically a direct
rip of one off the tracks of plaid's double figure ~
LAZY_TITLE but same general feel; love what you've done
with the place

LAZY_TITLE "chorus" direct lift from halley labs ~
LAZY_TITLE

getting the impression this is all very hip-hop "just steal
it" and we're getting away with it because no one can
fucking crack the outer shell of japan to get to the nutty
innards

if you're looking to modulate key for the sake of drama and
tension, japan is ready to go toe to toe with you

aphex and drukqs kind of fill every moment of attention,
that i almost kind of like this better -- that overall
trying to be a bit house-y, hook-y, but then you just deploy
the information overload in targeted strategic pockets and
you're just comfortable with yourself and who you are
running standard rave chording with a hardcore kickdrum for
a bit. because you need to establish a grid before you can
blow it up

who was it who said, "your music always seems to be going
somewhere"? wolfslice?

that, hell, if you're interested in... that... just listen
to what's going on with all the parts in this song. mostly
just so nuanced trying to word it would be LONG but i guess,
i'll just pick a bit, when you hear, "...need your touch" a
bassy noise [that i'd use the moog grandmother for myself]
just kind of bubbles up, and, like, i'm not directly
synesthetic, but it's clear to me that that was perfect,
that sound is what that "touch" feels like. sort of like the
chris clark vid where the handbird wing is just stroking up
his side to the chord, and i'm like: why yes, that's exactly
how this chord touches me

and then the song is still moving incredibly fast, but the
stretch(es) i'm speaking of here, you'd miss it if you
weren't listening, hearing how fast he's moving around bits
of texture.

like, actively working to sneak the complexity in

oh, hmm. so it's all every night, every day. every night.
every. day. every night. every day. every day.

and there's not even 303 in the song, but tell me you can't
just immediately find your head mapping that into accent,
glide, up, down

that i always felt like michael jackson sang like a 303.
billy jean, the freaking glides.

but i hadn't explicitly thought before: writing vocals but
writing 303 patterns at the same time; you're writing the
vocals to match the 303 pattern? solid idea

just gradually taking over keyword search from watmm BCM

that memory is a funny thing. i'll find myself in the
position of: you remember this, but you need a nudge

in college i bunged along with some urban explo thing of an
abandoned subway. like, i dunno, 12 years later, i run into
one of the guys who was on that run on IRC, of all things.
sure i'll send the photos i took. but then i was reminiscing
how, after we emerged from the depths, we found like, this
little memo notebook, just on the normal street, with lists
of rhyming words and after a bit of arguing: "this was some
aspiring rapper's crib sheet"

and at first he can't remember it at all, but i keep feeding
details, and eventually he's all OH YEAH and he's got it and
we're on the same page. he needed a nudge

similarly. it just hit me: this has been done before,
somewhat. that the memory is over a decade old so you'll
have to forgive me -- but, yes, i do remember, before being
banned from watmm, BCM watmm was going on about how there's
a japanese BCM and what should i do?

whatever he decided to do was clearly no good; japanese BCM
mopping the floor with him

that i actually swear i've had this moment of unearthing the
memory of "there's a japanese BCM, what do i do?" before,
but i haven't mentioned these letters here before [aside
from a chance splat in a megaupload link] according to my
database search

it's not urgent or anything, but i would be beyond delighted
if someone got it over to watmm BCM that japanese BCM is
just totally cleaning his clock. thx

clean. sick. not overwhelming. then it just breaks into...
fucking hell, remember how vibert used to blow us away? it's
very... very vibert for a stretch

that actually, the bass noise in that.. shadows, i think,
same-ish bass noise?

so i'll be clearer

1:38 ~ this explodes into something off "sorry i make you
lush." pretend the heavy compression isn't there. just
subtract it out, for the sake of comparison to vibberts

2:27 ~ really reminds me of "shadows" but now that i play it
back again vibbert's bass sound is way lush-er. go figure

3:17 ~ still vibert but getting off into... shit, can't
quite place it

then, oh, do just listen to it from the start. i admit to
tapping my foot and waiting for the part where they twist
the song's balls tighter until's a chipmunk to be over

but then we're into something... very masterfully gated like
infected mushroom, but just more... oh hell that's a r am b
l e; nm

then it lags a little until we get to my description log
starting 1:38

just rhythmic waves washing off you in your wake with
syncopation. then the dubstep slowdown. which i am still on
the fence about. it's not as bad as twisting the track's
chipmunk to balls tho

i hate you b'coz i love you

not ddr, just straight-up hardcore. but it definitely
innovates a bit within those bounds

again, re: drugs: the point has been made. but if it needs
to be any further, i'm finding compilation albums with
titles like "Speedball Z" and the songs are named like "ROCK
DA JAM" from artist "M-PROJECT fw. THE THONG MOVER",
"spEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEdphiLiA230pLus+", and then of course
there is a song simply named "Coke"

pretty much none of them are as good as the titles would
lead you to hope. this one track was the real keeper

going GRAVY TRAIN

er, GRAVY BOAT.
sorry, mental autocorrect

going back to earlier links -- We Could Get More Machinegun
Psystyle! -And More Genre Switches-, ILLEGAL TRAP

the english of this camellia person is delightfully
atrocious. you start with like
POWA OF DA WILDANES and no, you wanted WILDANESS or
WILDANIZ because that's not how...

and the album it's off is called "INVAIDAS FROM DA JUNGLE"
and where did that extra I come from?

then, obviously, we have "poison mushroom" instead of
infected mushroom, illegal trap, oh, illegal trapping, trap
music, right. but the joke doesn't quite land

and it's hitting me that... this is a japanese person who is
neither black nor furry trying to combine american black
culture with american furry culture and that's their -- his,
i suspect -- theme for the album.

then there's another album like "Blackmagik Blazing" which
is like american black culture with a theme of occult,
witches, track names are like "Nasty * Nasty * Spell" and
yeah i think this person basically takes two or things they
don't thoroughly understand from the american psyche and
then turns it into manic DDR machinegun psystyle

and if you love it when the the world seems like it spat
someone out of a random number generator...

totally different artist, track called "Throw the Money"

and this is deeply nebulous. throwing money at something,
sure. but "Throw the Money"? do you mean "Show the Money" or
"Throw your Money (at me)" or just perhaps "Throw your Money
(randomly in wads all over in da club in response to this
song)"?

i threw my money out, trying to figure this out

giggle
