so recently it is like you're merely stoked a track you made ten years ago syncs up like the wizard of oz with a track brian wilson made 40 years ago, and who cares about cash, we just want to share? denied; denied that i should have put out a bunch of EPs all along over last two years; will do so now. worried about the same on bandcramp. feeling just releasing a totally free album with stuff like wind chimes that'd just get pulled. in a rough sense, it is kind of a feeling like, "oh, fuck, just please have this before i keel over, can we just get it over with" and i have about 40 tracks like this |

soundclot, just really feel it's going down the tubes, slowly, boiling-a-frog style. example: sometimes i'd come up with a better mix, and you have to $ub$cribe to re-upload the source audio, but... you could just delete the track -- losing the stats, the plays, the likes, the comments -- and re-upload it with the same URL. this struck me as utterly fair. now, they were obviously like "we need more people to have paid accounts" and they're finding little ways everywhere to take things away and hide it behind a paywall... so, now it says "you've already used this URL" which is obvious clear poop; i've deleted it but you're still using DB storage to keep track of a dead URL? no you're just trying to milk cash and no, not gonna happen |

this is about where someone is all "oh calm down" and "if you don't like it, don't use it" i guess people have a somewhat skewed perspective of me, seeing me just through my xlt posts. this thread, others, it's really just like "this is bothering me" "i want to speak up about it" and then "xlt is really the only appropriate file-folder i have for this" followed by "okay i've said it, feel much better" and i can't recall complaining about soundclot anywhere other than here, and it's been a few months since i tore into them on here anyways maybe it's more fun if people just think i'm insane. |

I guess the real problem I'm trying to solve... people ask, "hey, link me your music" and I can text them 320k MP3s or FLACs, and wait, can you play FLAC? and what's FLAC? and soundclot is just a glossy phone-usable index in one link I can send to people. I kept recent stuff on it, mixed in with old tracks I was just in the mood to re-upload. Like, generally, a good snapshot of where I've been and where I am now. But now, full of ads, them creating issues like "URL has been taken" to drive signups, and lewis's mom can't figure out how to play my wind chimes mashup because the mobile site literally pastes ads over the play button. Somehow a bunch of bots managed to navigate it though and "like" the track Bandcramp still seems alright and I should just put some of this out into albums. Then the copyright stuff, yeah, I think I should put it all on an album and release it as a free download. I don't think Brian would mind no one's making any money off this; that's soundclot's mistake: Thinking there's actually money in my music |

i decided on a decent compromise; i left up some wavestation demos and then uploaded some, like... well, it's "unrequested_riddim.wav" and listening to it, or what i could of it, this does live up to its name; this was not requested. then "sandwiches.wav" which is also, i dunno, it lives up to its name, me saying sandwiches in various ways through a delay pedal that i probably won't bandcramp any of this and may as well have a giiggig.g.giog |

yes, exactly. i'm always out of space anyways, and time is harmony, so just split it up into a bunch of little EPs and some bigger ones and then both "unrequested riddim" and "sandwiches" gave me a solid laugh. like, this is not me uploading deliberate complete poop, this is the deliberate complete poop that somehow turned around and went back up the butt, like a salmon in search of a mate |
