it's a funny one. i don't think it has much of misogynist weight any more, or at least i can think of "woke" comedians who don't shy away from calling a cunt a cunt... it's the only swear i don't use with my mum, though i've heard my stepdad use it of other drivers when he's in the car with her and she didn't burst into flames. i think we all need a "worst" swear, cunt fulfills its purpose very well |

if you dial down to the stereotypical -- but admittedly real -- fat midwestern moron, i'd say some americans might not even know the word... or, at least, only be distantly familiar with it. most americans, though, at least know the word, but perhaps not what it means... and definitely, definitely, i do not think most americans understand it's a "worst" swear across the pond. so i've actually taking to using it quite a bit more, because i max out cussing and get away with it this board, this context, i was more thinking... come on you cunts, etc. was perfectly alright in the 90s but this may be ripe for someone to turn purple over in 2022 |

I'd never call a woman a cunt, because I don't think it would ever apply. It's a good word because it's a lot of hard consonants and you can spit it out with real venom. With a cockney/south London accent you can get more mileage out of it by drawing it out and pronouncing it "channnnt". Other good words: Twat Fuck Knob |

I think everyone but the extremely isolated weirdos in the US know what cunt means. It'd be something learned in middle school, even for Gen Z. 2 american examples right off the top of my head: Howard Stern private parts talking about the 7 banned words "cocksucker, motherfucker, fuck, shit cum, cunt, and pussy" Larry David calls a gay guy a cunt in curb your enthusiasm and has a full episode dealing with the aftermath ofc there are numerous british examples. "come on you cunt let's have some aphex acid" would have had a tremendous amount of american exposure. You also see it occasionally in porn. "Dirty milf shoves dildo in cunt and ass." etc. Point being, I'd have to go way out of my way to find someone who doesn't know the word. cuntychuck any thoughts? |
