BALDWIN! was also producing the movie. directing, the director, most people know that. seeing through the camera; yelling at the actors for more feeling. producing, though... despite years of harvey weinstein stories, most people would be like: uhhh... they.... produce... movies? producing means you hire the directory, facilitate the director hiring actors, get together the team to run everything on the set, etc etc ...and, to quote the LA Times (they're ok i guess?): As the camera crew — members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees — spent about an hour assembling their gear at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, several nonunion crew members showed up to replace them, two of the knowledgeable people said. One of the producers ordered the union members to leave the set and threatened to call security to remove them if they didn’t leave voluntarily. “Corners were being cut — and they brought in nonunion people so they could continue shooting,” the knowledgeable person said. The Knowledgeable Person; sounds solid but, still, i can see BALDWIN! "producing" this and suddenly it's not as easy as the thot and production is in the hole and hey let's just jam it through it would be super ironic if panic over time and budget from producer fail led to him being doubly liable i suppose i'm supposed to be Respectful and/or Sensitive, but alec BALDWIN! has the IQ of expired milk and every time he's quoted in the press, it's like "i wish he would just shut the fuck up" and so not only am i having a right laugh over all this, but i am cautiously optimistic the press will stop quoting him and i can finally forget how he ruined hunt for red october by not being harrison ford. |

I feel pretty bad for him. Unless he's a real sociopath this is gonna fuck him up for a long time. I really enjoyed his performances in Glengarry Glen Ross and The Departed. Beetlejuice too ofc. He's been an idiot on social media though for sure, and he should probably never post anything again after this. The far right are gonna have at anything he says because he made fun of Trump and is anti gun, and the far left are gonna have at him because they don't give a shit about situational context and he's a patriarchal white male. Mark my words, first reply to anything he says from either camp is gonna be like "Yo remember when you shot and killed a woman?" Man is just gonna have to disconnect from it all and work through this. |

The general ambiance is to feel terrible for the deceased and upset at the lack of discipline. Baldwin himself isn’t mentioned much. I feel bad for him. I doubt he was liked on the set much, mind you: those present that have been interviewed haven’t mentioned him, or at least been quoted mentioning him. |

Even if he literally did everything wrong behind the scenes, he still fired a gun expecting a blank and shot a bullet which killed a woman instead. Shouldn't that be cause to feel sorry for someone regardless? Why does everyone take such a *stand* on every last little piece of shit these past 5 years? Some bullshit idea about a just world? Unless you act in exactly the most pious, righteous way at all times we're gonna consider you a subhuman unworthy of even basic consideration. I don't get it any more. Am I just retarded? There are many different kinds of producers btw. Some are strictly financial, some are script supervisors, some are studio execs, some run the day to day operations and some work exclusively with casting etc. Epic's description was overly simple. |
