Shatner in space

Came back down and tried to explain the existential amazing
experience he just had to Jeff Bezos who just completely
ignored him and went for the champagne bottles

The whole exchange between the two men seemed so staged, I
could almost hear a person in an earpiece going, "bzzt, Okay
Jeff, remove your sunglasses....now."

Also they aren't fucking astronauts, just like passengers on
a ship aren't called aquanauts.

Yeah having him opening the capsule and stuff, total PR
exercise, you could tell Shatner was amazed. Wish Lenard
Nimoy was with him

yeah they were just strapped in like a piece of cargo, they
had no input, calling them astronauts is a bit insulting to
people who spend their entire career learning the in and
outs of orbital flight mechanics

It was funny hearing the Blue Origin Bimbos calling half of
them "customers" throughout - Shatner was terrified
beforehand but I'm glad he came out okay and, despite the
prepared speech he did seem genuinely moved and enhanced by
it.

i was about to rant about co2, but its a hydrogen engine,
which may prove to be relatively harmless.
now i wonder if they´re gonna use it for something useful
as shooting up satellites and iss supplies too.

yeah I reckon he was, yeah the commentary was pretty bad as
well. That capsule landing looked a bit rough as well, i
didn't see the small landing thrusters fire that cushion the
capsule like when its 20 foot from the floor, just smacked
down. Shatner looked a bit rough getting out the capsule.

I think this ego thing between Musk and Bezos is leading to
a new space race so its quite interesting. Blue Origin deffo
looks a bit more ramshackle at the moment, like its a budget
version of Space X

Why does Bezos wear a flight suit when he doesn't go into
space

id love to see at least orbital flights or space stations
develop a bit more within my lifetime. might not be too bad
to have like a city in the sky in case one of those doomsday
devices go off or another extinction level event.

Yeah im not really for this space tourism stuff its just
polluting the environment, if they get serious about a
colony on the moon or mars that would be really interesting
but thats probably another 100 years off at least

kind of makes me happy and sad how there always seems to be
a breaking news event turning out to be another tease. but
it´s gotta start somewhere. so thats the up side :)

I think we will see some interesting stuff in the next few
decades that for sure, someone is going to try and claim the
moon or some silly stuff!

publicity stunt
