Sam Crankman-Speed (i'd never heard of FTX until the week when they were like: "it's ok, it's ok, it's o-- wait shit we're fucked." i read about him pitching the shit out of things absentmindedly and think, "i think i have an idea, but i need to hear this for myself" and so i do, and it's exactly what i expect: SBF talks like the guy from the micromachine commercials, that it's a torrent of bullshit, but he has an ear for his audience's attention span and makes what seems like a point often enough that it would be understandable if you thought: "i know some of what this guy's talking about, but i can't make sense of it overall, i'm just going to assume he's smarter than me because of this." truth is, he isn't, he's just on 200-300mg of adderall per day. googling around i'm finding things like... a box of transdermal patches for some MAOI antidepressant that metabolizes into amphetamines, interviews with the FTX company doctor saying "yes i wrote a few prescriptions for ADHD there" and now things like "SBF requests they bring his prescription medications to him in jail" and then part of his bail conditions are "substance abuse counseling" and i could keep going, but... doesn't it all make so. much. fucking. sense? in retrospect) |
