When i think of the heaps of recommended albums i see here,
i get so dizzy i could fall of my chair.

First Aphex, i still need: ICBYD and RDJ album for my must
have list.
Then BoC, i started with Geogaddi and i MUST have MHTRTC.
Then Autechre. Do they have a load of albums or what? I cant
choose one!
Then PLaid, everybody is enthousiastic about these guys
too.
Then Brian Eno and just now i read somethin about Amon
Tobin. i want it all, if not more than that.

Downloading mp3's is not an option. i want the real thing..

I'm so bored today i'm lookin for cd's to buy from the net
even though i dont have money for em. This is all you guys'
fault, but thats ok, i care about good music because you
do.

*sigh*

Just slowly build the collection...dont go out and buy like
10 at a time or anything, you wont be able to absorb the
music as well....

You'll get there it takes time to build a great collection.

=)

You are insane, j198, why do you want original CD's? I have
all artists you mentioned on burned cdr's and have no
problem with it.

thats a neverending conversation. A lot of people will agree
that burned cd's are fine and a lot of people will say its
just not the same thing. From the Aphex albums i have, i got
Drukqs on cd-rs because i got it from somebody but i still
want the original CDs. It just bothers me.

you can have all the music you want ,before you turn 22,
use the internet, and when you have too much money, buy
something you really can't find on the internet(wich almost
doesn't exist)
and if you want to support the artists ,go see them, it's a
much better experience then putting on a cd at home...
and you have the money for it coz you don't buy cd's

I think that burnt cd's are great, it's alot better than no
tunes, but if I really like some thing (SAW2 for example) I
would definitley hunt down originals, I like to think that
paying for it might actually help the artist out and thus
more material to listen to ...

Yeah, helping artists is a motive for bying originals that i
can support. But i'm an imoral person and when deciding
whether I should do a little stealing (i.e., burning a cdr)
or be left withou music, I have no dilemas. besides, paying
for gigs really is much more important to touring
musicians...

I like buying cds because I want to support something I care
like other people support britneys etc buyng their
albums...so I understand the problem.some artists have an
infinite discography but slowly I'm sure I'll get all I
want. My problem is finding something. tradional shop order
only shit music. what I like comes out after month since the
official release

hehe, I have an idea we should burn our CDs and send money
directly to the artists to support them...

I dont mind burned cd's, but its different for my aphex twin
albums as it's become more like a collection than just
another few cd's. i dont want 8 original ones and one copied
cd. Also, for example, Geogaddi's cover and booklet art is
as beautiful as the music. I couldnt stand looking at a
white piece of paper with 'BoC Geogaddi' on it and nothing
else while listening to their music. I would just feel
something was missing.

As for seeing the artists, thats easier said than done. My
fellow dutch 'boarders' here know this. Flying to London to
see Richard isnt something i can afford often.

J: I take your point and say, OK. I care more about the
music than the artwork so i have no problems with xeroxed or
scanned covers. And about seeing artists live, well, you
don't have to tell me about it...

I like doing compilations with CD-Rs - now and again I'll
burn an album but mostly I just keep em as mp3s. I do like a
solid album from the shops in your hand, it is nicer... but
it costs more!

I always buy the original cd's with the artists I really
like. What annoys the hell out of me is how some stores like
to think they know what you want. All the good stuff is
always missing in the shops.

Latest example: Global Communications, the one with Alpha
Phase on it. Had to order and even then I'm not guaranteed
to get it. My Robert Rich & Lustmord order didn't come in
:(

"Soulseek, when your music store lets you down..again."

i think its more immoral to charge people so much to listen
to music, than to dowload it.

i know jarworski. CD prices these days are insane to say the
least. I bought Geogaddi (ltd) for about 22 $. Now that
album is worth every cent of it but pretty much every new CD
is reaching this sky high price and thats just not right..
Thank god i just found the RDJ album on bol.com for 12 bucks

Almost every year I hear about some fucking 'investigation'
into the price of cds, and nothing ever comes of it. I mean,
is £14 a fair price for a single cd? Cause I'm a person who
wants a cd when it comes out, I can't wait for no fucking
sales...

Yeah, too much music... I have gigantic MP3 collections of
artists I have no time to listen to because there's too many
OTHER MP3s I've already downloaded and need to hear... too
much music, too little time.

But I haven't bought a CD in a while, there's no point in my
mind.
