I've kept this to myself for long enough.

To read AFX

goto;

http://www.retrosynth.com/ah/

type in;

panflet

into the search field

restrict searches to

from: field only

presto

For the record Richard. No one ratted you out. No dealers or
people who sold you stuff. I just figured it out reading the
AH archives one night.

it looks like a bunch of very dry, technical exchanges about
synthesizers i've never heard of. mostly some guy named
eric and somebody called panflet. what does this have to do
with afx?

this is terribly uninteresting to read. especially with no
context.

Oh, right, because panflet is aphex twin.

I had a hunch so I wrote that panflet address. Who writes
back ?

it's been said more than once by more than one person that
eric_hard_jams is some other dude from watmm and another
board and is not afx.

i'm just repeating what i've heard. i don't know one way or

is any more legitimate than the claims others have made.

some other dude from watmm owns a 50 dollar yamaha keyboard?
Please. I think you have your facts mixed up.
eric_hard_jams was discovered on the supercollider forum.
The guy who wrote supercollider has stayed at his house.

He even addresses Aphex by name in the supercollider forum.

If I werer aphex I'd spread a rumor around that it was
someone else too

I think eric_hard _jams is his public email. What ever he
uses on forums gets sent to there. Which is why he must have
hit reply to me and it came backk eric_hard_jams instead of
that panflet address.

Ok, here's more proof. Ricahrd talked about analogue
hardware on the planet-mu forum. He said that virtual synths
are really pretend synths. And I qoute "they should be
called PST synths, P for pretend not virtual." Now, on the
retrosynth site he says it again here;

http://elists.resynthesize.com/analogue-heaven/2004/05/3534
84/

This guy sure think like aphex.

I guess I've shared it cause I would want someone to do the
same. I find it quite interesting to read. Not like I'm
going to go out and buy a synthi 100 and make my own
analord. Plus, people can write that eric_hard_jams email
already.

Me too. Yes, the windowlicker times. Well, I do know the
bass synth in Windowlicker (including the scratch sequence)
is an mks-80.

How do you know that?

offline bogala from NYC (United States) on 2005-08-06 15:25 [#01686061]
Points: 5125 Status: Regular

Cylob told me :-) I kinda noodled it out of him.
He doesn't usually talk about afx. I had to approach it
right.
I was totally in love with the windowlicker bass sound. I
was on a mission to find out what synth it came from. Years
ago.
He was also into this prog just before drukqs came out.

mks-80 unison mode is killer. It's thick and rich, but also
really wet sounding.

Do you make music yourself? You might make something good if
you're into all these gizmos. Personally I only use free
modplug tracker... I love lobster tracks.

need a laptop though. I would use ableton if I did.
