not sure i get this, but zips are quite versatile as they are basically just a container. a zip that contains pictures is readable by comic book readers for example. programs like emulator front ends read em when they contain roms etc.. some of these programs have their own file name extensions, like .cbr you rename a zip to cbr to make it readable for example. but the format stays the same. another thought: have we already reached the possible combinations of 3 letter file extensions? |
