I say modern era because there mighta been someone just
KILLING it with Gilgamesh jokes in 250bc.

I say man because women are rarely funny.

My picks:
Chris Farley
LArry David
Tim Heidecker

I wanna say, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, and Louis CK, but
apparently they're politically incorrect now-a-days

yeah there are definitely funny women, but it's *usually*
more like witty and clever, little bit snarky. Nothing like
whatever was going on with Chris Farley, just thinking about
him makes me laugh.

I do really like Tiny Fey, and Joan Rivers tho. And Susie
Essman who is featued in that Larry David clip above.

back when I used to kinda use twitter, I followed some funny
chicks.

lauren caltagirone

and megan anram (that tweet is gold)

oh man susie kills it in CYE. i love standup as an artform
tho, don't get out to comedy clubs nearly enuf. joan rivers
is very nicely acerbic but fairly US-centric. feels like i'm
only getting a peppering from a full buckshot blast

Never heard of that one, funny movie?

I don't watch many pure comedies, usually cuz some
predictable romance angle drives the plot resolution.

I liked Meet the Parents and 40 year old virgin, moviewise.
Less "sentiment" there. TV shows, at least in the past, are
better. Seinfeld, always sunny, arrested development are
good tv comedies with less overt messaging.

Sopranos is actually some of the funniest shit I've ever
seen, but it's buried in a more cynical outlook that comes
through in the character dynamics. Cohen bros too (No
Country For Old Men is basically a comedy movie, when you
shine the right light on it).

i'm so very tired of being sensitive about women. i'd rather
be sensitive about fat people

fat does not necessarily mean not in shape ~ LAZY_TITLE
~ back when four loko was legal

and just because you're fat doesn't mean you can't do
speedballs ~ LAZY_TITLE ~ i don't care what he was on
for this; it was worth it

sarah silverman has a special gift

but my all time favourite is german helge schneider,
but hes hard to get if youre foreign, because his humor is
hard to translate, a unique kind of clumsy abstractness,
that actually nails it. his clumsy behaviour and clown like
appearence dont match with tv or international humorists. he
is the modern days fool at court. even fooling his audience
right along with it. true mastermind. and a gifted musician
aswell. he plays an incountable number of instruments.

> epic were you more thinking currently when you said
eric andre??

i'm incredibly glad you asked: i was previously thinking
currently, but i'm currently thinking that i was previously
wrong for thinking currently, and should have thought
previously, previously. obviously, i now think previously,
currently, and i binge watched everything i could pirate
during the peak of the pandemic, 2020, and it literally hurt
to breathe the next day.

i have to admit i've gone on another tour or two through it
with less gargantuan results. additionally... things like
his desk giving birth; not everyone appreciates this. maybe
it is crap and i just like it because it's precisely the
sort of shit i'd come up with, except with more bodily
fluids.

i cited george carlin and andy kaufman. there's a definite
like, punk rock andy kaufman with a bit of carlin's biting
commentary, in a back-alley parody of an 80's public access
show.

but here's where we run into a wall, because i don't know if
you have hazy childhood memories of those shitty shows. how
old are you, mermaidman? where did you grow up? we need
these parameters for the discussion to continue. otherwise,
kindly gtfo
