Saw this at the cinema the other evening with some friends, first cinema visit since Coronavirus; I thought it was excellent, started off episodic because it needed to be, then opened up in preparation for the second part, which I really do hope gets made. This definitely needs to be seen on the big screen, in the way that Denis' previous film, Blade Runner 2049 did. I haven't read the book(s), always hit a wall about 50 pages in, but I ordered the paperback and am 60 pages in and finding it a much easier read than before. Anyone else seen it yet? |

The book is fucking great, i agree the first few chapters are dense but it really expands outwards after that so it will be interesting to see if you manage to get through that barrier |

Already beaten my previous record and no signs of slacking :'D Before I was reading the kindle version, I think on top of having seen the new film, having the paperback makes it just a way more enjoyable and easy read - can't wait to read the whole of the trilogy now. |

The first book is great. As for the Villeneuve movie it's all a bit beige for my tastes. A bit too tasteful. I much prefer the baroque lunacy of Lynch's Dune, flawed though it may be. |

i haven't seen the new one but going purely by the trailer i'd have to agree, but i love the Lynch film, he gets the intrinsic weirdness of the book right |

Yeah paperback is the way to go, second book is much different in tone but sort of works as a link between books one and three, well if i remember anyway i need to read em again |

saw the 1984 movie with the gurl three weeks ago. hadnt seen that in a while, like 20 years or so and she didnt knew it. we loved the look and grittyness, the unique costumes and the mystic story all together. then we watched the new trailer which made it appear it´s all about troops dispatching and hooray for warfare. i guess it wont be all about that and visually stunning aswell, but im not looking forward to see it, yet. havent read the book, is it a lot about politics, spygame/warfare? |

i reread all and was surprised with parts 5 and 6 being quite awesome movie looks very impressive and timeless in that regard two more are planned: the first two books |

I've heard from people that book 2 really is important, and it is much shorter than the original so I'm guessing that could be made as one film, to round out a nice Dune trilogy. |

I saw Blade Runner 2049 on big screen first and must agree. Some films deserve to be seen on big screen, obviously. Also, Arrival by Denis V. first seen on big screen is still a great watch/memory. Especially when I'd thought not much new could be said in film in the topic of aliens or alien invasion. Last week I had ticket already bought for the Last Craig Bond but had to pass bc of some minor flu. Coming back to cinema going "after covid" is not that easy ! I think I'll watch Lynch/MacLachlan version before I go see the Denis version. |

Yeah definitely try to catch this before it leaves the cinemas - Part 2 is confirmed so I expect there will be some 5 hour double-bills going on in a couple of years, and I'm really hoping maybe Blade Runner 2049 will get thrown back into cinemas for a couple of weeks too. |

yeah buddy now encouraged me to go see dune aswell. feedback here doesnt seem bad either. while, as mentioned before the trailer didnt appeal to me it definitely made it look like something to see on a big screen. we ´ll see. |
