used to think all the special sounds on the go plastic era
stuff was special DSP machines like the super expensive
eventide dsp 4000 and orville but it's funny now im older i
can tell the difference between FM synthesis and other types
of synthesis. squarepusher is fucking amazing with FM
synthesis. and fm is quite cheap to buy. like a tx81z is a
hundred quid, maybe an fs1r costs a lot more these days.
like getting a squarepusher sound you need FM and a sampler
along with genius creativity.

i love to geek out on the technical side of things. i
remember someone on the planet mu board saying he bought a
boss dr660 because squarepusher had one and he had no idea
how squarepusher did those early albums of his on it,
because it's quite a rudimentary machine.

ive owned tonnes of machines but nowadays i just think ive
wasted my life not learning how to play instruments and
stuff. a guy like squarepusher taught himself everything via
his virtuoso self-taught bass guitar skills and expanded
that to encompass a unique take on electronic music

it's like, the machines/software you use are like 1-10% of
the equation depending on the track

aphex and squarepusher have the compositional
skills, creativity, experience, taste, and ability to bounce
around ideas off each other

getting obsessed here with their "mojo", which i wish they
sold in bottles

yeah exactly, its them, themselves, their work ethic and
creativity that is the magic ingredient, they could make a
good track with just a sample of a fart noise

him saying once he was going to rereleased drukqs but for a
joke use all the same track names and send warp all
different tracks, probably a pisstake
