On culturally conservative critics of capitalism

Neoliberalism’s fragmentary and atomising tendencies
have gone too far. In response, some right-wingers have
turned against the market. At the same time, there’s a
(marginal) tendency on the left turning against cultural
liberalism. Are we witnessing a major political realignment
underway? What is the substance of these "culturally
conservative" critiques, and do they offer anything new,
beyond what people like Christopher Lasch advanced decades
ago?

Backlasch!

you don't know maurras?? he's pretty much the father of
european fascism, and the intellectual force behind those
annoying "traditional western architecture" twitter accounts

Every time I blink another one of these guys crawls out of
the woodwork! I'll have to read up on him. But I thought
Mazzini was the seminal fascist figure, at least in terms of
the influence of nationalism / unificationism. I was reading
in Pankaj Mishra about how he influenced Savarkar and
Hindutva.

I was mufos with one of those traditional architecture guys
for a while, it made interesting reading, he was really into
race realism when he wasn't promoting tapestries and flying
buttresses

hypies I suspect he believed toys were sinful

I thought fascism was a mixture of antisemitism and anti
democratic values. But according to that definition Jeremy
Corbyn is a fascist, which is preposterous. The media called
him an anti-Semitic leader and he wanted to overturn the
result of many pro British independence election outcomes.

Nothing scary about tradionalist architecture in itself. But
the real fascists do scare me too. There was one pro Hitler
guy called Johnathan something in the UK. I'm pretty sure he
was murdered by the state. He was s big fan of this turd
called Evola

Look at Trump. They call him a fascist but he is on Israel's
side, and he won a democratic vote. And he supports British
democracy, which voted for British independence many times
in recent years.

I'd be happy to vote for a modern Hugh Gaitskell who is anti
war but pro Israel. The left can't win in the UK unless they
embrace Gaitskell ism. There's literally no other path to
victory at the ballot box.

The censorship side of a possible dystopian future is oddly
coming strongly from the « liberal » left. Orwell and co
rightly sensed this was going to be a conservative thing.

Also you either agree or your a terrible person. No
discussion possible. It’s extremely tiring.

I’m a lefty. But would like to keep my personality, and be
allowed to debate. That’s somethjng that’s less and less
possible because fleetmouse or Juliette a likes will just
tell you that you’re a terrible person. Black and white.

Whats your definition of fascism mermaidman? George Orwell
in politics and the english language said a a lot about the
term fascism. Wonder if youve ever read that article.

Id you define racist as being against some shit cunt on the
internet who expects you to believe he’s some turkish
muslim gay guy without offering any proof then Im definitely
racist.

Like i said before, my great grandfather fought for the
british when he was 15 and helped kill Turks at gallipoli.
He also went through the hell of dunkirk against the real
fascist. If thats racist then im racist.

Since no one is going to listen to the podcast I linked or
read the attached articles, sure let's discuss fascism.
Umberto Eco defined it by 14 points.

russelldust I don't think you're a terrible person, I think
you're a regular guy who has got a persecution complex.

I wouldn't call Trump as fascist yet, but he has fascist
tendencies
I think he has touched on almost everyone of those points at
one time or an other., if he loses the popular vote, and
electoral college this time round im guessing he wont
relinquish power.

i don't think you're a terrible person, but i do think with
this line of thinking you're getting hoodwinked by dishonest
pseudointellectuals who have only the most sinister motives

there is no actual censorship coming from the left to be
worried about right now, unless you're talking about the
teen k-pop stan mobs coming after people who drew bart
simpson naked one time (noxious, but ultimately just dumb
teens).

Because the UK is a democracy you have to make socialism or
whatever youre pushing palatable to the electorate. Labour
got hammered at the last election. Tories won 14 million to
10 million votes. If Labour don’t embrace British
independence on a Gaitskellite ticket, the benefits of
socialist beliefs will be eroded.

Israel? In this day and age it should be obvious which God
is real. Thousands of years ago prophecies are coming true

Say he loses the electoral college, which the way things are
going is possible even against corpsey old Joe Biden, it's
possible he'll test the waters between the election and
inauguration day, but if he gets much pushback I think he'll
fold. He hates to fight a losing fight, he hates to make an
effort if he can't easily spin things his way.

even if I often disagree with it, they go out on some limbs

Is Anna Stalinist? I think mainly she's a notorious Brooklyn
