trump cancels squarepusher

trump just announced a 30-day incoming travel ban on
foreign nationals, and i had already bought tickets to see
squarepusher on apr 9, his first us tour date, conveniently
just a few days shy of the ban.

the fucking shit ticket site charged me $25 or $30 in
"service fees" and then had the gall to ask me if i'd like
to insure for $8. i'm sure if i had checked it, they still
would not give me my money back, smugly claiming it was for
weather incidents or squarepusher catching a sniffle

but, hey, you never know. maybe they'll just credit my visa.
and donald trump will develop a sense of humility

japan is starting apr 1st. wouldn't surprise me if that gets
pulled as well

honestly, best i can hope for is a rescheduling and my
tickets honored.

really sucks because last time i cared enough to bother with
something like this was squarepusher in 2012 or something

good luck making any changes to your flight, i tried to
cancel and the wait time was 18 hours to talk to an agent

travel insurance probably wont cover it, its considered an
"epidemic", they did have a 10 day grace period so the
insurance premium itself was refundable

oh, i wasn't flying anywhere. and i'm mostly just mad
squarepusher finally made the album i wanted him to and he's
touring again and i can afford it for the first time in a
while and now there will probably be nothing, no
squarepusher

but, come to think of it, he's probably out more than $80 in
tickets and fees, which is also sad. i should order the
vinyl

with all going on

Bit of a stretch to suggest Trump's exempted the UK
because he's got golf courses there but... whatever feeds
into the "It's definitely Trump's fault and not the filthy
Chinese and isn't it odd that the countries worst affected
are the least sanitary but hey Trump Will Get Us All Killed"
narrative.

as of the moment, vietnam has tested more people for
coronavirus, because trump buried his head in the sand for
weeks out of fear of disrupting the stock market, and, yeah,
now it's pretty fucked:

but, fair enough, it seems more like it was about zones of
europe than his golf courses. as if it matters

i'm supposed to be going to 808 state in two weeks but it'll
be cancelled for sure. things will be much worse in the uk
in two weeks time. i've got a gig on wednesday, kind of hope
it doesn't get cancelled because i love playing live so
much.another gig in may will surely be cancelled. it sucks.

at least we're all healthy for now. hope squarepusher is
determined to just delay the shows and play later...

I went to an 808 state show once and there was about six
people. Felt bad for them, they were pissed off after the
show.

The Talmud, Midrash, and the Kabbalistic work, the Zohar,
state that the 'deadline' by which the Messiah must appear
is 6,000 years from creation. According to tradition, the
Hebrew calendar started at the time of Creation, placed at
3761 BCE. The current (2019/2020) Hebrew year is 5780

i can believe that humanity as we know it is about 6000
years old.

offline umbroman3 from United Kingdom on 2020-03-14 20:26 [#02597142]
Points: 6096 Status: Regular

nobody knows how old earth is... besides the year 6000 is
not about counting the age of the earth. according to jewish
law there has to be appointed a jewish king. even if you
don't believe in God, jewish law is a tangible thing. it's
inevitable that there will be a jewish king in the next 220
years. maybe it's not the case that he will solve all the
problems in the world, but all the problems in the world
will be solved by the time he arrives.

if you strip away the jewish angle, imagine what life would
be like in 220 years. will humanity destroy itself or
regress to something backwards? or will most diseases be
cured and space travel be possible?

i find it hard to give a shit about climate change or
merging the nations together into a world government. i just
think "oh yeah the jewish messiah will do that". my peers
dont believe in God so they dont conceive of such things.
ya'll are pessimists.

when it comes to god, i have to tweak the x-files tagline a
tad: i want to believe, but i'm not quite that daft.

it would be so much more comforting to believe in god, but,
no, it drowns in a sea of logic and i just can't sorry

there's a fossil record of homo sapiens going back a lot
longer than 6000 years mate, wiki sez around 300,000 years.
i listened to a podcast recently called you're dead to me about

well you dont have to believe in God. in jewish law only the
jews have to believe in god. there are literally laws about
it for the jews. there's no law saying non-jews have to
believe in God.

i dont know how old the earth is. i dont really disagree
with you belb. it's not clearly written. like i said it's
not 6000 years ago that's interesting but 220 years from
now.

Following the development of radiometric age-dating in
the early 20th century, measurements of lead in uranium-rich
minerals showed that some were in excess of a billion years
old.[6] The oldest such minerals analyzed to date—small
crystals of zircon from the Jack Hills of Western
Australia—are at least 4.404 billion years old.[7][8][9]
Calcium–aluminium-rich inclusions—the oldest known solid
constituents within meteorites that are formed within the
Solar System—are 4.567 billion years old,[10][11] giving a
lower limit for the age of the Solar System.

out of interest how do you see the world being in 220 years
time? according to judaism there will be a jewish king that
can literally interact with life and death. god will judge
people and the righteous majority will live again. according
to me there will be cool shit like deep space travel and
advanced tech that you couldnt dream of. it will be a land
of plenty for those that make it and the previously dead
will mix with the living.

Jew literally means believer in God
basically they were destined to believe in God and spread
knowledge of God in the world.

the other religions are fake(not that they are completely
wrong about everything). jesus wasn't the messiah. mohamed
is a false prophet (illegal in jewish law)

Imagine a pandemic with the numbers of mortality reversed!
It’s not that unplausible. The mother of all viruses,
airborne and one that kills 98% of people. Of course we have
the asteroid conundrum, one the bible discusses, am I right,
umbroman?

jesus and mohamed, nothing against them or their followers.
they're much better people than me. im stuck without a
religion.

id say, dont try to convert to judaism. thats what i was
going to do right before the voices started. jewish law is
dangerous, crazy dangerous, because they are the laws of
God.

if you've lived a good life you will eventually know of the
Jewish king, because he is the one who will conquer death.
but people like hitler, who killed 6 million believers in
the true God, go to a place called sheol and stay there in a
state of extreme pain and humiliation .i could talk about
this stuff all night but i guess it winds you all up and i
dont want to do that really.

The difference between you and me, is that my
Concept of a God would be one that is understanding and
forgiving. One that even understands the vilest of
persons. The story of Jesus fits pretty well
With that. Empathy and forgiveness is the key to it all.

pneumonic plague (as opposed to the bubonic version) had a
mortality rate of about 95% if i remember my gcse history
right. we've been due a pandemic for ages, 2% is getting off
lightly if that's all we lose
