My grandma was the same way minus the schnapps, she used to
stay up with me to watch monster movie marathons. I remember
watching King Kong vs. Godzilla at like 3 a.m. and feeling
impossibly tired, and she was like "come on, you're missing
it" when I started nodding off.

RIP your oma.

thanks guys! omas are great

@tony
sounds like a good oma :) i remember zapping through the
programs with her at night. she always gave me the remote.
and when i zapped into porn she started laughing like a
little girl saying schweinkram!!!. sounds weird but i think
its still funny

my oma didn't really give me schnapps, but she always had
those bonbons with alcohol in them. she took it out before
she gave them to me, but obviously there was still some alc
left in there…

May your ouma rest in peace. My one ouma was German, but
succumbed to cancer before I was even born.

In Afrikaans ouma literally translates to “old mother”
in English.

My condolences. I also remember watching tv with my nan,
little house on the prairie, Columbo, starsky and hutch,
murder she wrote... she also gave me my first drink of
booze! Miss her terribly!

the word oma comes from german kids trying to say
Großmutter, which became Großmama, which became omama,
which became oma

Großvater is great cos it sounds like gross and farter
someone who doesn't particularly smelly farts, and that's
really apt for grandfathers

German is a very fancy pant language. I speak one of the
youngest, simplest languages and our minds definitely
reflect that.

Anyway, I don’t mean to detract from the doncks obviously
sweet gran so I’ll just stfu now.
