Body parts and mind-parts and chopping them off

Some people claim that they need to chop off parts of their
bodies to feel right. I remember a woman who saw off one of
her legs because it didn't "feel right" to her. Once in a
wheel-chair, she claimed, she felt great.

What's your opinion on this? It is okay to chop of body
parts at will or is there something natural about normal
atanomy that should be preserved.

Next step: If you can chop of body parts you should be able
to chop-off mind part. Use of certain drugs would probably
the cloest thing. Chopping of your empathy-limb by using
cocaine and crystal meth, so to speak. ... Is it a fair idea
to alter one's mind-anatomy in such a way, or again, should
you bow down before the sanctity of the natural mind?

What do you want to chop off, erase or anihilate?

I had a dream the other day that there was a chainsaw
resting against different parts of my body. It wasn't
turned on, just resting on me. Scary dream man. Kept saying
chainsaw to myself for days.

phantom limb syndrome, apparently, can be a real bitch,
particularly if the loss was actively traumatic and
consciously experienced. people describe the removed limb
still feeling like it's there, in the last position they had
it, painfully frozen forever. descriptions like "my left
fist is clenching so tightly it hurts," but there's no left
fist and no left arm. drugs, even powerful opiates, do
nothing to alleviate it. ramachandrian's book, phantoms in
the brain, describes a simple trick: a mirror is set up so
when the patient moves their right arm, visual feedback
indicates the left arm is also moving. then patients can
unclench their right fist, the brain is tricked into feeling
it's a left fist, and they can get a bit of relief.

however, drugs do have a better answer, purportedly:

I discovered a long time ago that ketamine and
cannabinoids helped my phantom hand. I’m quite convinced
these classes work by distorting body image so severely that
you phase out triggers for the pain. I have experienced
profound proprioceptive distortions after intramuscular PCP
injection, as if my whole body were a proportional model of
the sensory homunculus. But in a sense, what I feel is not
hallucination or a distortion, I actually find dissociatives
corrective, that is, they make the phantom disappear. This
is not just an idiosyncratic response on my part; there are
at least three articles published on the effectiveness of
ketamine in treating phantom-limb pain. It’s dished out by
British pain-management clinics for just that purpose in the
form of a nauseatingly artificial lemon-flavored linctus.
Needless to say, the whole lot of it gets squirted up the
arse to bypass my taste buds, but even this has its
drawbacks… like sticky, sugary bum cheeks!

anxiety, moodiness is really what bothers me, but i would
not want them completely gone.

Looking for a willing volunteer, Meiwes posted an
advertisement on the website The Cannibal Cafe (a defunct
forum for people with a cannibalism fetish). Meiwes' post
stated that he was "looking for a well-built 18- to
30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed."

Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes, an engineer from Berlin,
answered the advertisement in March 2001. Many other people
responded to the advertisement but backed out; Meiwes did
not attempt to force them to do anything against their
will.

The two made a videotape when they met on 9 March 2001 in
Meiwes' home, in the small town of Rotenburg, showcasing
Meiwes amputating Brandes' penis (with his agreement) and
the two men attempting to eat it together. Before doing so,
Brandes swallowed twenty sleeping pills, and a bottle of
cough syrup, likely causing an effect of slowed breathing
and extreme tiredness.

Brandes initially insisted that Meiwes attempt to bite his
penis off. This did not work, and ultimately, Meiwes used a
knife to remove Brandes' appendage. Brandes apparently tried
to eat some of his own penis raw but could not, because it
was too tough and, as he put it, "chewy". Meiwes then fried
the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, wine, and garlic; he
then fried it with some of Brandes' fat, but by then it was
too burnt to be consumed. He then chopped the penis up into
chunks and fed it to his dog.

The fact about the Armin Meiwes case that impressed me the
most was the fact that Meiwes was reading a Star Wars novel
while the other guy was bleeding to death, due to his
chopped off penis, in Meiwes' bathtub

And I like the fact that Meiwes became a vegetarian in
prison ...

just posting cos the author of that article, hamilton
morris, is awesome. if you can find his documentary series
"hamilton's pharmacopeia" it's well worth a watch

i have experienced a kind of phantom limb sensation. soon
after doing brain damage, i was in a hospital bed unable to
move my right arm. however if i shut my eyes and tried to,
say, scratch my nose with that arm it felt like i could move
it no problem. my sense-of-body was all mangled. got better
over time though it's still not perfect

i always found the other guy much more interesting. i
remember reading the full protocol, printed in the Bild (the
german Sun) and i had a hard time wrapping my head around
it. i could not relate to that at all. it was so far away
from me.

welt I've posted this before but not sure if you've seen it.

Far from lopping anything off, I'd ideally like to sew an
extra nob on.

there was that furry guy on Twitter recently who 'fell
asleep' with his hands in liquid nitrogen so he could get
them amputated ..... Fuck that for a laugh..

Though this dude, who trepanned himself, i've heard an
interview with him and he sounds pretty sound:

I think that Cannibal Cafe case is what part of an episode
of the IT Crowd is based on, and I heard Graham Lineham
(writer of said series) once say he typically spends
several hours a day 'researching'... so I guess that's
reading about stuff like that, Graham, like the rest of us
lot.. heh

I'd get a new prostate and bladder.

I'm sick of the 'after piss' once the wee fella gets zipped
away.

Either that or I'm going to invent absorbant, wonder pants.
Keeps you fresher and accentuates your natural package.
