i've written about my right big toe in my giant bullshit thread, but i doubt anyone's been following along. i have a guaranteed mile and a half of walking, summed up, every day i go to work, and often i take in another walk during lunch for the fuck of it. my big toe has begun to more properly complain, for the first time in a while. so i'm walking to shift it, and i feel other parts of my foot starting to complain after a few days. i think: the contagion is spreading. so now, i've begun the standard process of regularly massaging the zone, kneading it. finding where it hurts and stretching gently in that direction to aid motility. it's definitely helping. i am pondering my walking form; perhaps there are mistakes here as well |

after a nice hot tub when all the muscles are relaxed, stand for a few minutes. focus on your feet, knees & feet pointing forward, legs rather pressing apart instead of knees closing into each other, more weight placed on your footpads, toes slighlty grabbing into the ground, easing your pelvis forward further relaxing the lumbal area, taking your chin back and imagine your hung on the tip of your skull via an invisible thread pulling yourself up. stand like this for as long as you may. if you feel any pain, try breathing into that pain and gently move that area, relaxing those muscles too and sorting the bones, stacking the whole body in order to stand without using and tensing too many muscles. let your focus wander through all the stations mentioned, starting over at your toes etc.. |

i only did it in year 7, we got arbitrarily split into french and german classes after that. i was mostly a dullard at french but i remember getting extra credit for calling my science teacher "le diable" (devil) in the oral exam... cos it wasn't in the set vocab but also it was true |

i was the world's worst latin student for approximately six years. i was in fifth year latin in public high, and when i got into a private school, they sent me back to second year latin, where i could barely keep up. but, hey, i wasn't the only one -- it was the first class of the day, in the city, people took the train in; shit happens. but this one guy. he was late, like, every single day. the teacher -- who was nice, young, cute, etc -- demands to know why he is late ~this time~ "oh, we had some rodent problems" he explains it was just too absurd. too much laughing. and the guy got shit about ~rodent problems~ for weeks, but he did not get in trouble for being late that day. mercifully, i was able to switch to german a year later. here, at least, was something i was less terrible at than latin. fucking cicero and is fucking speeches. you saved the senate, good for you. fuck off you ponce, cicero |
