Aaaaaaaa that looks mental! Did you code that slick graphic
view of module connections yourself? I've seen something
similar in TX Modular which is also an SC based project.

I see the appeal of Faust and Tao... has anyone coded a zero
delay filter in Faust and added it to SC? That would be
worthwhile.

I never got in to supercollider cos I'm always worried I'll
forget everything I learned for Max. Plus I need the clucky
draggy lines to understand.

Btw check out Radium, a tracker that allows python scripting
and has pure data embedded instruments LAZY_TITLE

Max is great because you have lots of options for text
coding if you want, it can basically do anything, the whole
thing is as open and standards based as I've ever seen any
commercial product. But I think you're right, the knowledge
is very specific, it's not so much a language as a bag of
tricks and speaking as someone who has picked it up and
dropped it a few times I forget the tricks quickly if I'm
not using it.

Radium - hmm, I like all those features, pity they're
wrapped in a tracker. Does it have a "session view" like
Live, or is everything on a single timeline? Part of the
reason I'm learning SC is to get completely off the grid,
even Live is too griddy for my tastes.

There is a blocklist but I'm not sure how well integrated
the tirggering of them is, certainly nothing on the level of
abletons session view.

tho it would be a good thing to implement as each block can
have independent tempo & timesig values per click. would be
great if you could have multiples running at once.

Yeah that's the idea. Modular sequencing really.

I tried a roland mpu 101 midi cv gate converter with sc but
it locked up ;/

Anyone know which midi cv gate converters work with sc?
Might have to ask on muffwiggler.com

Hey umbro I'm doing the tutorials you linked, they're better
than the video series by far.

btw I checked out your scd files, here is a neat trick I
learned recently: if you do [60,62,64,67,69].midicps.choose
for your random notes then you can use MIDI note numbers
instead of frequencies. Of course you might want to write a
custom function for microtuning, but whatevs..

Thanks, that’s a useful tip. I just bought a yamaha fb 01
and a ys 100 keyboard. Both are 8 part multitimbral fm
synths that are quite cheap. Gonna use them with sc I hope.

do [60,62,64,67,69].choose.midicps instead
midicps.choose does midicps on the entire list then does
choose, you only need it on the one you want

Greyhole and JPReverb UGens were made in FAUST... they are
both pretty similar afaichear... Greyhole is supposed to be
emulation of a Eventide thingie

Wasn't it you who once posted a link to a bandcamp of a guy
who did FB-01 renditions of Bach? In any case that is one
chonky sounding synth.

Ah, good optimization tip! I'll keep an eye on the order of
method calls from now on. Didn't know about Greyhole, was
just reading that the same package of plugins has a
physically modelled diode ring modulator too.

Never got anything good from that thing, xor is much more
useful, OMG is it more useful...Xoring 2 oscs slightly out
of sync, right fun!

And yeah i did make that UI, and every UI element that u see
there, including the envelope editor, which is WAY better
than the standard one

It really is fuckin stupid the amount of sound you can get
of SC,
like i can make heavy patches in that thing, with 2 or 3
reverbs PER VOICE/NOTE, and just bang the keyboard with a
long release time, and it doesn't get about 50% cpu

You all seen the new version of bitwig with its modular grid
stuff? Seems everyone who uses it says it's great so I think
I'm going get it rather than upgrade to Live 10. I like
their everything can modulate everything approach and this
seems like they've made that even more granular.

It's probably got a better curve ahead of it as a product
than Ableton does.

steve mcqueen: I can't execute that code, what do

"One example: step sequencers are phase-driven, not trigger
driven. This may not initially seem important but it means
that what you can do in terms of sequence timing
subdivisions and micro-timing (or 'groove') is both hugely
more flexible and less of a hassle, because you can
effectively modify the flow of musical time in a sequence
directly by messing with the phase signal'

Yeah just grabbed bitwig. Looking forward to meeting about.

yeah i wonder how deep the sequencer modulation can go and
going by that i am really interested
