jesus I think the gentrification of Vancouver has accelerated since the 2010 Olympics but it was destined to happen with real estate being treated as speculative investment. Same thing happening in most major cities around the world. Lots of foreign nouveau riche money driving up costs. |

yeah, I think he was respectful of the people, as you mention its a hard subject matter to approach without seeming to be exploitative of peoples situations, but I think he does a decent job, I definitely felt empathetic towards these people |

I've been there and it's mad because it's literally one side of the road is fine and the other side is bedlam. They do the exact same thing in San Francisco, apple store one side of the road, smakc heads and mentally ill people on the other. |

This is how to solve it, you need a rich hero to go buy a bunch of guns and just hand them out for free to all the homeless people. And while they're at it, all the adolescent inmates of schools too. So much full spectrum structural violence is targeted to these weakest groups of society, anything they do with their guns would be legitimate self defense. |

it is actually not a terrible idea. draw a line -- if you want to be a smackhead, do it here. hire people to clean up after them; generally take care of them. meanwhile, anyone on the outside of that might think "i can't keep doing this shit or i'll wind up on hastings" and that'll be that. a high school classmate who will forever remain nameless was the drug connect in my circle of buddies. first time i smoked weed, it was him. none of that "i had to try it thrice," shit, i got really high, and i liked it. i then went to him and said: how much does this weed stuff cost? ok. here's how much cash i have, can you get me that much? he sent my other buddy a bunch of messages, indicating he had just tried heroin, and was in the closet, giggling. to my knowledge, though, he never did it after that. he went on to be a fighter pilot in the air force. taking stupid risks without stalling or plowing into the ocean; i think that's all it was. myself, i have a dash of vasovagal syndrome; needles give me the willies. perhaps i could handle an IM injection of ketamine but in my whole life i've never had the faintest clue where to get that sort of fing |

i think he means well, the higher the rent the more sickening arseholes there are but don't be under any illusions about homelessness and empathy between the poor, having lived in a homeless hostel for 2 years i can tell you it's still dog eat dog. i had my benefits slashed and flat taken away cos i'm warehoused in a semi-hospital and yes i'm still pathetically grateful not to be on the streets, could've easily gone the other way |

tbh i didn't consider ad revenue, it can't be that much surely? dunno how much you get for ~500k views. i watched another video of his where he's reviewing food from a local homeless shelter and his "journalistm" isn't great but at least he volunteers there (apparently). if those places don't get volunteers on any given day they just don't open at least in my experience, and while that doesn't excuse his refusal to give any youtube bucks to the people driving his content it is better than nothing i dunno, if the dude he's interviewing would only spend any payment on crack - as is made pretty clear in the - is it just patronising "clean hands" shit to refuse him money he can obviously spare? i mean the guy's gonna get that crack somehow, probably by doing something a lot more demeaning than be interviewed by some hipster |

I don't think that youtuber is a monster. The government is the monster, they're the ones making it illegal for people to homestead their own land, which I think is mathematically unethical when using the non aggression principle as an axiom. Landlords are in a fascist merger with the monoopoly of force government, benefiting immensely off of their criminal laws with a) involuntary customers, and since they have involuntary customers who have no choice but to rent (due to government illegalizing homesteading), they can jack up prices to insane heights, basically 90% of people's incomes go straight to landlords, as a human farming government sponsored neo feudalistic class/caste. b) people who cannot afford the rents and must enter the government utterly shit non solutions like homeless shelters where they probably have to do bureaucratic shit paperwork and prove they're trying to find a job in the oligopoly. The solution is to legalize homesteading. And the government won't legalize it, because they're criminal and run the legal system, as part of their full spectrum dominance, naturally acquired after taking half of everyone's wealth, which is criminal. I think it's basically warfare now. I mean look at chickens, they're in factory farms, this is how the giant complicated glacier of the system operates when it's on a sickly unmovable path. There's anti bacterial stuff everywhere bathing primitive evolutionary life in poison, chickens bathed in factory farm poison, the poorest humans next. Homesteading land is the solution, every human is ethically entitled to 1 share as a fundamental core base of freedom. It would demolish homelessness and create sovereignty where anyone can vote against a shit system by opting out. The demons in charge won't make homesteading legal, their legal system isn't even based on the non aggression principle. At least this idea should be spread so people know what the solution or problem even is. It's not some tard ass voting/politics. Man this shit devolved. |

Look at these birds. They have the freedom to build a nest/house, imagine that. There's no "zoning" or "building regulations". They don't have to buy space from neo-feudalistic fascists before doing so, at a price that costs more than all the energy one can acquire in a lifetime, especially if forced to spend almost all that energy on monthly rentals. It's not "illegal" for birds to have territory/shelter, as it is for humans in the homeless caste. It's illegal for them to live in a vehicle without paying recurring insanely marked up human farming trailer park fees, and the government turned vehicles into a human farming system too with recurring involuntary car registration and insurance payments. Anyone who owns more than 1 share of land is initiating force on the ability of others to own 1 share, which is absolutely essential for them to be included in a level playing field. There's no level playing field. Youtubers like that are documenting the situation, they'd be more free market but the government makes everything force based and non free market. Same with landlords, renting to someone on a voluntary basis is fine, but when they fuse with government it is force based because there's no other option. The government is the root problem with all of it. |

I mean what's your argument: homeless people (or anyone) shouldn't be allowed to seek/build/obtain their own shelter/terrritory? Everyone needs to unite and stop paying rent in mass, and just homestead the place they're renting. The person living in the rental has a higher property claim because they're being forced to live there, and it would be restitution for a system of human farming. What is happening now basically is some humans are being rejected by farmers because they don't produce enough energy (money) for the farmer in this free range system where a human has the 'freedom' to get any job in a shit technocracy/oligopoly then give that money directly to their farmer to live on the farmers territory for a limited time. |
