Trailer’s out

Gonna watch it
After boycotting the han solo movie

Jj abrams is an expert at making something fun to watch once

Looking forward to JJ introducing the music of the Beastie
Boys into Star Wars.

i saw han solo movie at home and .. actually enjoyed it.
it's sheer level of, not trying to do anything new or
different actually suited the star wars franchise (in its
current, pretty boring iteration) totally fine.

will probably do the same with this new film. wait til it's
available to watch at home. cinema audiences (especially for
marvel/star wars action movie) are fucked in the head.
talking and crinkling plastic wrappers and crunching away on
the loudest food items they could sneak in from supermarket.

once saw Alien at a modern big franchise cinema chain, as
part of a "RETRO CLASSICS" thing they were doing. bunch of
teenager girls infront of us talking, browsing phones,
taking selfies and having the flash on the camera go off.
before realising they were totally not interested in the
movie and deciding to walk out ~15 minutes into the movie,
still talking and with a "SEE YA, LOSERS!" kind of attitude.

pretty much... never go to the cinemas. people are fucked.

I couldn't watch Solo, I didn't like the hamfaced guy in the
title role, but what really killed it for me is when
khaleesi showed up with her bad acting making the bad
dialogue even worse. Don't think I got 15 minutes into it.
Thank god for Netflix.

IX looks fun, I will give it a chance, then again I liked
VIII, an unpopular opinion around here. I hope they have the
green milk beasts again.

i had issues with episode 8, but my biggest gripes was more
how it continued episode 7. like, episode 7 didn't really
amount to anything but fun reboot of 1977 film, with new
cast of characters. it felt like an introduction. or a
promise of a fun new series of films. the film itself wasn't
exactly a blast or anything, but it seemed like it was
moving the films into the right direction and making them
fun family friendly action romps, for rey and finn and paul
damogen to go on adventures in future films.

and then 8 just didn't deliver on anything at all.
it was like a double let down. it made 8 a disappointment
as well as retroactively confirming 7 to be a
disappointment.

it very much just confirmed that me not giving a shit about
the films at all lol

i'm cautiously looking forward to it but by gob i hope they
don't ruin everything that made 8 cool
like please please don't make rey a secret skywalker clone
with the good aristocratic genes and kylo a badass with the
repaired helm and everyone doing cool mindless heroic
sacrifice

Let's hope there's more _getting away_ from Star Wars so
that Star Wars can finally deliver what it hinted at when it
first appeared in 1977; *not being Star Wars*

Apparently the new saga starting after episode 9 will be set
in the Miami club scene, and primarily deal with self image.
There will be jet ski fight offs.

Well of course. It doesn't matter how much actual variety
there is, if the only salient point for you is that it is
all not-me. Not my interests, not my nostalgia, not
my comfort zone. It becomes for you an undifferentiated mass
of otherness.

The discomfort you feel is called lack of representation.
Except in your case you still have representation - it's
just not the 100% representation you're used to, and it
burns.

C’mon Leia, why don’t you take a look around? Can’t
you see what Luke is up against? You could have a “nice
guy” like him. Instead, you are turning your back on him.
Forget that it was Luke that saved you from having your
atoms scattered throughout the galaxy. Forget that it was
Luke, and not Han Solo, that wanted you rescued from the
Death Star detention area. But you don’t need to remember
all that, Leia. As long as hot-lips Han is around, who needs
Luke anyway?
