There is a photo of my big brother wearing what appears to
almost the exact same jumper as the person with their back
to the camera in this photograph.

those jumpers were quite ubiquitous at one stage, I wonder
if my brother still owns it

those sweaters were globally ubiquitous from the late 80s to
mid 90s, we had them in Canada too. Something about the
combination of fit and pattern made people wearing them look
like they had just lost 300 pounds and had lots of loose
skin.

around in times of great prosperity and mental awakenings

my mum still has staple holes in the ceiling from all the
buntings and stuff my dad used to put up every year, about a
dozen sets of Christmas lights on the tree making it list.
Before global warming was really at the for front of global
consciousness.

umbros lego set dates from 1991, so I assume that's the year
this photo was taken, that's contemporaneous with the
Gameboy stuff

didnt get a gameboy til i was about 10, so i guess it's
1993-1994
my mother later told me that when my parents went to paris
she got the gameboy cheap from off duty on the ferry

when i got it i felt excited but it was seen as out of date
at that time imo the gamegear had colour screen and stuff
and seemed more advanced.

fucking loved kirby and battletoads though, great games.
zelda link's awakening i got in high school, which blew me
away. i always remembered seeing it on gamesmaster, they
showed the second dungeon trick for getting a key, you have
to defeat 3 enemies in a certain order.

still got that gameboy ,and another one that my uncle vivian
sold me that came with loads of games, but the screens have
missing lines today
i tried the youtube trick with a hot hairdryer but couldnt
get them fixed :-(

i was more about k'nex than lego, i adapted that
submarine body into a rocket that reached the ceiling. good
times

great stuff, yes links awakening is fantastic, I think I
know what you mean about the order of creatures killed, was
it something to do with pols voice, or was that another
puzzle?

super Mario land was brilliant as well, my brother was much
better than me at that. I remember playing my Gameboy on a
camping trip in the mid 90s think it was xenon 2 I was
playing

and the pieces go between the floorboards and stuff
