so at my job there is Russian developer and frontend
developer. Russian developer far superior to Bulgarian
Stefan, but still issue. I hear, "oh you idiot" and I
m3ntally doubletake, because this guy rarely ever speaks
aloud. Like, what, did I hear that right? Sort of an ~oh
shit~ vibe, too, like when you're a little kid and mom is
furious over some shit you did.

Russian calls over frontend developer and chews him out. Guy
is tough as nails; sharp as a tack, and until now, I have
had the utmost respect for him. But now I am genuinely
conflicted -- yes, frontend developer guy made a mistake,
but his shit is confusing, and Russian attitude full of
pressure; I know the pain of performance anxiety.

In the end, I felt like he was just picking on this guy a
bit too hard for the office -- especially saying "idiot"
suddenly, loudly enough to startle all of the dev team, we
work in a usually quiet cluster, we do

Not doing anything for now. But pondering response tr3e
branches for as this situation develops

Personally I would be wary of any Russian working in Tech.
We learned in 2016 just how dangerous they can be. I would
place the likelihood of this guy being a KGB agent at around
75%. Hopefully this isn't a government contractor we're
talking about?

yeah bit unprofessional to say that infront of other people,
guess its a huge amount of frustration that's caused it but
doesn't create a good atmos to work in

I think with alot of truly intelligent people their working
ability is inversely proportional to their social ability, I
don't know what the culture in Russia is like, I get the
impression they just say whatever is on their mind, they
don't do social niceties

I don't think being polite and respectful is a mere social
nicety and I don't think intelligence excuses lack of
either, or is a valid excuse for it.

no it doesn't excuse it, I was just trying to figure out the
guys mindset, why he thought it was ok to shout idiot at
someone

Guys who behave like that need to be nipped in the bud
unless you want them to take over. Talk to your cow orkers
about ordering some #2 bud nippers.
