cassettes and LPs that introduce synths and hifi-systems,
a.s.o. would love to hear more stuff like that

yes, its good that he is still on the search for different
sounds after all this time, even if half of them sound like
the clangers having a mental breakdown

1987 Demonstration cassette for E-mu System Inc's Emax
sampling keyboard. Type II cassette with Dolby B noise
reduction.

yup, me too. but i never recorded enough, dunno why. one
time friend begged me, to record my voyages on cassette. he
took it and put it in his car, when he was playing it to
others he was telling them its from a crazy indian hindu
priest. must have sounded like that for him, lol

When I was very young I was always messing around with
cassette recorder making funny noises into it like a proper
little idiot,

thanks for the link, will listen after I cook tea, imagine
having a time machine and going back to mid 80s japan, ram
raiding the roland factory with a bulldozer and filling up a
truck with gear

i actually bought quite some gear in the last two years.
after selling all my stuff, because i didn't really do
anything with it i just came back to simply having fun and
not giving a shit. and i have to say its better then ever, i
look at all this stuff very differently now. and it just
makes me happy. its not much and not expensive stuff.

one thing that annoys me a bit, is that i bought a roland
d50 4 months ago. that huge and heavy thing. and now they
just released this little boutique version. im trying to
tell myself that the old one sounds better because of the
old ADCs :§

ill make pizza now

hardware samplers i'm trying to make myself believe are
better than cheetah but i'm not sure. they are low on memory
and i'm afraid they'll die any second. if i want to sample
into a akai sampler do i need an external harddrive for
example? is all of this hassle worth it?

i have to admit a bit of the same cringe i feel when reading
threads about autechre. like: alright, yes, i'm sure some of
this is simply above my head and i don't see the brilliance
of it, but i do feel like the fanboy virus has gone to
everyone's hed and perhaps it's not even brilliant at all,
just coasting on rep. it's not like i would have even half a
clue how to get a decent sound out of the cheetah box, it's
more that i've been playing a meghan trainor song on loop
today and i never felt the urge to do that with cheetah. i
really appreciated the bwoon dub part II aspect of it, it's
perfect in the right mood, the obscure gear angle is cool,
but it doesn't exactly leave me ardent

first video: i recognize this tune! it's in a jeff mills mix
somewhere! i feel like dancing now

second video: oh hey i think i can actually hear melody. i
didn't notice that before

there's a point where music becomes so technical it walls
most everyone off from appreciating it. i don't think
there's anything inherently bad about this per se, but there
are problems when people get snooty and turn it into a race
to show you "get it" and shit.

this is actually not the problem aphex has at all. aphex is
simply deep up the anus of his cirkloin controller making
synth demos, in the same way i am deep up the anus of
milkytracker making cheesy 90s jungle with stolen samples.
lots of fun to make but not exactly vordhosbn

Autechre made a lot of music makers think that "IDM" and
noise music were the same thing
