in the hed out of ted i have so much to say about reggie watts that i think i'll just keep most of it to myself. the setup i was using with delay 'n' mixer feedback is philosophically in the same neighborhood as wat watts drops, and you'll see me turning a knob with one hand while browsing through menus of crappy beat presets on the on the other. most of the time, i am only paying attention to one thing at a time, and i can just rely on my body to keep doing the last thing i told it to do -- and once you get deep in there, that can be so fucking abstract. it could involve three knobs at once, and i can say, "yeah, just keep doing that, i'll be right back" and my hand keeps doing it as i dig through menus of crappy beat presets on the yamaha and locate "yellow rose" to give it that gypsy wedding feel mohammed loves so much. the truly weird thing is that i've started to have moments where i really am conscious of both things (or more) at once. it's a fleeting thing, typically for five or ten seconds at a time. the longest block of time i've hung on to it is about ten minutes, and that was a fucking trip so, yes, with watts -- there's so much i notice. taking notes, every fucking time. how when he does the shaker sound (first vid in this thread) he actually pantomimes the motion with his hand. this is more likely for watts himself than anyone watching -- the physical motion reduces the cognitive load of making the sound, freeing more of his mind up to continue his multi-lingual air traffic control parody |

I think they're creating a whimsical amusement park fractal, which is definitely preferable to the total tyranny they were maybe just faking us out with. One things for sure, we are absolutely powerless relative to them, at least currently, if time even passes at the same speed universally any more. |
