If he said it, then it must be true, because there's
never
been any good English cinema.

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny 7.

Go rate another American movie, fucking prick.

That stereotype is from so long ago, it could be an American
just as easily as an Englishman.

it's purely coincidental that the people in this thread who
didn't enjoy paying $10 to sit through some melodramatic
bullshit that looked like it was dreamed up by a first year
art student are americans.

No. You are drawing conclusions. My previous post can mean
anything, the same way your are portraying your "mimi from
(United States)" post. The only part that is straight forward
is the "fucking prick" statement. That's based in the realm
of truth, though.

Stalker? Really? How do you figure?

Besides, who said anything about an Englishman anyways? I
was just randomly posting a picture of a snooty person in a
thread on the internet. Absolutely no correlation with the
preceding post was intended.

I don't think it qualifies as a 'melodrama'. For one,
there's not nearly enough dialogue or hammy acting.

My follow-up to mimi was in reference to an earlier
observation: I wasn't belittling her opinion of the film
based on her nationality, as Mr Brazil seemed to think, and
as mimi also seemed to conclude.

quite nicely.

It really was quite good, I thought. I love these kinds of
"futuristic" movies that paint a believable picture of the
future. Not all George Jetson and flying around and
holograms and what not. I also liked how the story didn't
try to give some B.S. pseudo-science about why people have
become infertile, since it wasn't even central to the story.
Instead if focused on these people's desperate attempt to
find a solution, even though the solution was so uncertain.

I liked Michael Caine's little speech about Hope and Luck.
wasn't that it? Hope and something anyway.

I'm really hard to convince concerning movies, I like
strange things like Lynch and "freaks" but that one was
good, let's face it, the action scenes were allright, the
plot amusing and the only fact the "hero" dies at the end is
cool...
Plus a 84 posts thread about a movie only means it's at
least an interesting one.
The rest is only american twats gossip.

Gratitude to you righteous thinkers out there; inspiring a
dialog about our planet and what is to come...

The title of this thread is "the film: children of men" and
many xlt'ers here noticed this thread's catalyst for
discussing Earth's possible future...

There's no question that this earth is going to have a big
change. Some here think i'm joking...but i'm not. Many
people are still attached to their surroundings, and are
hence under bongade to their environment...

here's what my master has said: (loosely translated)

"only about 2 people here will be with me when the earth
change happens."

"when you attain enlightenment; then you will know where to
go."
