Actually, titsworth, I did not give it up (to LX)!
ie. "fooled around"

Alex Paterson & RDJ are on par.

i don't really care to know the specifics, i was just
pointing out the fact that you bring that up a LOT.

orb are on top of the realm of standard ambient techno but
please, let's not get into orb vs. RDJ it would NOT be
pretty.

You really don't understand. You weren't around when this
music was new. Back in tha day, pretty much all Aphex fans
were Orb fans and vice versa! In our eyes, they go hand in
hand.
Listen and learn...

Hmm, I hate to have to show my age, but she's right. In the
early 90's there was no "IDM" tag, so being into orb and RDJ
was only natural

i don't appreciate your patronizing me but i'm not going to
argue over it. the music rdj put out dating back to orb's
debut and earlier is still interesting to listen to and
shows massive innovation while old orb albums just sound
dated and generic. he may have helped pioneer ambient techno
with a few other artists (incl. mr. richard d. james) but he
was the "weakest link" of the pack. i challenge you to name
13 early orb songs as creative as SAW 85-92.

of course, the orb has always had a significant following,
especially in the early to mid 90s. there've been some
"pretty good" albums and some interesting songs but there
was a lot better stuff at the time, and not necessarily
underground stuff that no one had heard of. i think the
early 90s stuff from orbital and lfo was much better but hey
what do i know, i wasn't there.

hardcore at the time...

indeed it does. one of my childhood friends is a local death
metal star! his band is called crestfallen and they hail
straight outta northern VA.

Aye, I know crestfallen If I recall well, they were kinda
too pussy for me, but still they are quite famous. I'm more
into Suffocation/ Cannibal Corpse type of thing.

hmm it could be a different crestfallen, i don't know if
they're popular enough to have fans in yugoslavia. they
signed to a label and are putting out / have put out an
album with this summer. it's supposed to be more melodic
stuff but everything i've heard from them has been CoC type
stuff.

http://www.handstandrecords.com/

has mp3's i think

Hmm, I'm a bit confused now... I am not sure if I have ever
heard crestfallen to be honest, I was just told about them.
I'll check that url out.

a joke?
well, sure their remixes in Greatest Hits r a fuckin joke,
but Matando Gueros stuff sounds not like a joke to me.

Yeah, "Matando gueros" was OK, but too long for what litle
ideas they had. They should have made it 20 minutes long
instead of 30-something. It was really second rate compared
to old napalm death or defecation or righteous pigs or
assuck or discordance axis or nasum (that came letter)

http://www.pheer.com/mp3.php3

they used to have some older mp3's there, but you can still
basically check out our whole scene. besides crestfallen,
majority rule, pg99, and darkest hour are king.

I checked the one at handstand site. More hardcore than
death metal. Not bad tho. I have my doubts that this is the
Crestfallen I had in mind originally. I have to leave now
but will try the other url later, thanks.
