That is a cop out arguement for haters because it could be said for a number of artists.

Well, perhaps we hate all of those artists too!
I really can't be arsed to listen to a bunch of fucking middle-class art student wankers drone on about how crap their lives are. It's been done a million times before, and it's just excruciating.
I'm surprised that Radiohead actually have fans who aren't just depressed teenagers looking for something to slit their wrists to.

.......and my mate showed me some of that Kid A stuff. I thought it was shite. Why listen to that, when you can listen to the stuff they've tried in vain to emulate (Aphex Twin, Autechre, whatever), and which is so plainly superior?

You brits really hate Radiohead :-) I can understand. I don't like canadian artists. I know I carry that prejudice though.
I don't know if emulate is more fitting than incorporate. And I don't see what is so bad about that.
"Oh yes....take cover! }:>"
LOL. Ya, look out all the fanboys will be waking up.

It's not because they're British that I hate them. I like lots of British artists. The majority of the music I like is probably British. I just think Radiohead are a pile of steaming ejaculate, that's all.
I do hate the fact that the singer feigns an American accent when he's singing though.

you don't like radiohead, i don't like u2 - but who gives a shit?
the topic of this thread is 'how did you get into radiohead', and obviously it's pointed towards radiohead fans. so why are you reading this? so your hate in radiohead can manifest some more?
hatred is not good mate, it eats you up. just let it go and don't care about artists you don't like:)

OK Cre I see what you're saying. You're probably right.
But sometimes it's fun to explain why you like/dislike something so much. I enjoy it. I'm probably sick :)

I bought ”Kid A” because of all the fuzz and hype. But when I first listened to the lyrics in “How to disappear completely” (performed with SO much soul) I was sold. The rest is history. I still cry when I hear “I’m not here...this is not happening”...

you know, about that fake american accent thom puts on while singing - i agree with that. listen to creep acoustic and you'll definitely hear it.
but that's just thom yorke.. he's an idiot and i hate, er.. dislike him:), but he can sing, and write lyrics/music.
but radiohead isn't just thom, there are 5 of them.

I got into Aphex Twin when I was 15, I was on holiday with friends when I picked up Xylem Tube from a record store. I was hooked from that point on.
I actually bought the OK Computer CD after hearing Paranoid Android on the radio. It was a good CD, although Kid A and Amnesiac are both shit.

april or may of 1997 i saw the world premier of an animated music video for a song called "paranoid android" by a band i was a little familiar with called radiohead. i knew their song "creep" and i knew "high and dry" (though for a few months i thought it was by silverchair for some reason). anyway, i watched the video and fell in love with both the cartoon and the song. i mean that song has it all, it's just this massive, brilliant masterpiece. so i resolved to get the album, ok computer, and i did. long story short, it's always been my favorite album, and within a few months i bought the radiohead back catalogue and the rest is history.

lfo remix of planet telex kind of sucked, he's done better things. also i don't agree with what jivverdicker said about that being their intro to electronic music, they've said in many interviews that they've always listened to electronic stuff, long before you started hearing it in their music. when they recorded their debut album they were obsessed with neu! and can.
