I pressed with my rotten fingertips down on that LAZY_LINK,
it was an Autechre fake. The iPad made it an immersive
beauty, I feel entrenched in the scene.

i like windows because i'm cold and stuffy and a bit
socially inept...perhaps, just perhaps if i bought apple
products, i could blossom into a free thinking creative
individual. yes, if only....

I believe CX is an Apple shareholder or possibly a shill
planted on these forums to promote Apple products in
exchange for iphone apps.

the kindle is very much alive precisely because it has a
technology that can't be replicated by traditional lcd/tft
or other backlit screens (e-ink). One of the major
advantages other than no eyestrain is that it doesn't drain
the battery except when 'turning' the page so it can last
for weeks or longer.

im not an apple fan (never owned a mac) but own an iphone.

i have zero use for a laptop right now.
all my power work is done on desktops - including web
browsing (multiple browsers, cpu intensive web sites,
gobloads of tabs open at once)

quite frankly, it is a pain in the ass to have a laptop.
all those extra i/o ports ill never use. id love to have a
netbook but the shit is too small for me. the only thing id
be doing is web browsing, email, and watching tv/movies.

to be honest, the more i type this out the more i realize
it's exactly something that i would want. something to keep
on the nightstand/browsing in bed with a light weight
device....wifi is all i would need..same with a coffee
shop/hangout - why have this huge device with wasted space
(i/o) when you could have something lightweight and a huge,
beautiful screen (!not waht netbooks offer).

i cant justify owning one, but it does fit those design
requirements pretty damn well...and came in a lot cheaper
than i was expecting.

who wants to lay in bed with a huge laptop on their belly.

it's not mind blowing, but i can see those who would have
such requirements. just another product...carry on

so if you got one, would you get rid of your iPhone?

if not, why not?
because it makes no sense to have an iPhone and an iPad. no
sense at all.

I wonder if the capacitive sensors are more sensitive? ie-
a smaller iPhone stylus can be made now. This would
actually spark my interest.

No multitasking and no in-browser Flash basically ruins it.

I own a smart phone and a laptop, so this doesnt really
enhance my daily experience.

Terence's Hill initial wants to post his opinion too:

uuh, meh. could have been much, much more exciting. the
name, the looks, screen resolution, connectivity, no
background apps, and most of all the interface. Dunno, i'm
using my Macbook Pro a lot, got keyboard shortcuts for
anything, and i just don't see this blown up iPod
touch really a better experience at any but the simplest
task, especially browsing web or doing mail, where
you have to type. how do you speed-google on this thing? i
expected a real computer with a stripped down, highly
customized OS X, damnit.

that said, Apple's strategy will probably work
fantastically, it will be a huge success and there will be
really excellent single purpose multitouch software of all
sorts for this thing within the next 6-9 months or so… as
the iPhone app store is kinda crammed, developers will now
jump on it… and using it as a peripheral to a proper
computer, that you can unplug and take it to the bathroom
for porn consumption, could be great really, though it all
depends on Apple loosening their friggin store censorship
bullshit.

it's a weird product really aimed at non hardcore computer
users- It's not trying to be better than a laptop or to be a
phone - i'd imagine it'll sell a shed load to slightly
older/casual users or business folk that ride trains
everyday. On the plus side i think it's just some software
away from being a £300 Lemur interface for music
applications. Given that the Lemur is nearly £2000, that's
pretty decent.

I think the cringeworthy 'applespeak' marketing harms it a
bit. It doesn't matter how often steve jobs says it's
amazing without really showing some new functionality. i
think once they sort tv subscriptions and skype cameras
it'll be a much stronger product. Not for me tho.

Prolly should have called it iTab too and avoided 500 lazy
internet tampon jokes.

i think the fact that there had been a lot of speculation
about 3D displays and minority report style multitouch

this indeed, though it will have major drawbacks in that
regard as well, being a completely closed, Apple controlled
system.

i.e., Ableton might want to have M4L running on it, and
Apple might not want them to, etc. etc.

that you have to pay to make software for it is the most gay
thing in computing history. i think jobs forgot that he
started in a fucking garage.

if the software would be open source this would be a awesome
device. think of making a lemur for 1/3 the price and with
wi-fi so you can jump around the stage armed with it.

oh and i hope that they add a tissue to it so you can wipe
all the fingerprints from it. fingerprints have a tendency
to love shiny surface. and they love ultra-glossy displays.

I feel like I am looking for the holy grail of digital art
