i'll pass up on this one. i'll await the unofficial digital
release. more than 100 bucks for a couple of 10"s with
unreleased tunes and some other stuff. that just doesn't cut
it.
congrats though for the future lucky owners.

i saw the words unheard, Boards of Canada, and autechre

and i've preordered

they'd better still be doing a BoCset

:(

its very tasty,
specially for the 10" vinyls and the mix,
but i dont need most of the stuff in there,
and 100 e is too much money,
so i think im not buying it...

do remember its £85 if you pre-order. considering
everything inside, i don't think its unreasonable at all.

i was a little unsure when it was first announced too, but
when you see everything inside, packaged so nicely, it is
difficult to resist.

well there's probably 2 cd's in there with music you already
own, and a mixalbum of music you already own.
if i want a mix, i just look into hanals deep blue eyes. or
vlaris, or well half the board is mixing these days. you
made some good ones as well, if i remember correct

i wonder if the version of Roygbiv on here will be an
extended cut or what? and will it have the latter part of
Bocuma at the beginning?

i hope not. if it is literally just ripped from MHTRTC then
that shows quite a bit of laziness :-/

I ordered without a moments hesitation. I'm weak. The lady

amused that I mentioned the possibility of buying a second
one to turn into some sort of wall display.

http://bocpages.org/wiki/Statements_from_Hexagon_Sun

MDG: "At this point, the box set of early material
is looking 99% likely to happen. I say that because it
hasn't been finally compiled yet. There's a big archive to
get through, the obvious tracks that were on various demos
and mixtapes given out to friends in the late eighties and
early nineties, but also a huge amount of unreleased
material that hasn't surfaced so far. There are hundreds of
tracks for every year from say 1986 through to 1995, and
then for every record BOC have released there are a mountain
of tracks that didn't make it onto the record. So the time
involved is the only issue from what I understand. There's
been regular debate across here about what goes on them and
in what order etc. But if you can be patient, these tracks
will come out, and a whole lot you won't have heard yet too.
Asides from that, let me just say once again for the record,
there's a new album coming out first, and maybe more. No
dates yet, but they are definitely coming."

it would be nice to have the bocset ready in time for warp20
aniverseries, etc... but in truth, i doubt it'll be released
this year, especially if the talk of a new album due shortly
is true.

it certainly would be nice though. i think some vintage boc
tracks (anything long before the travesty that was the
campfire headphase basically) are just what we need right
now.

From the language used in that information I think the
unreleased stuff will be put out in another format at some
point:

"Vinyl exclusive to Warp20 (Box Set)."

In fact looking at it, in regards to the music, only the
Osymyso mix and the groove locked records are exclusive to
the box set.

I'll still get it if I can scrape together the pennies.

i think that part of the whole point of this Warp20 box set
is the fact that there's some unreleased BoC and ae
on there.

it would have been very cool to have the BoCset released in
time, but to be honest from Warp's perspective it would've
stolen the thunder a little. They want the product to be
about Warp as a whole, not just BoC.

either way, as someone who has only really listened to some
Warp output, this box set is gonna be nice to listen to. the
only problem is am i going to be able to resist listening to
the vinyls...i would prefer to wait for someone to rip them
and have them up as FLACs

good points

and i'd like to add that just because it's the 20th year of
warp chances are high there'll be new releases from aphex
and boc this year.
just when we're done celebrating the warp20boxset, say in
aug/sept, there'll be some new..ehm...stuff announced

/wishful thinking
