well if you dont trust your democracy...
why is that? the civil war (mad guess, im watching north and
south)? the whole idea of the states?
it makes it kinda wild west, which is a bit cool actually, i
think..
why dont you trust your democracy? because it's ruled by an
elite and the people have little influence on that? that's
not so much different in other countries i think

Yeah, money = power

which is true everywhere i suppose. If it was a true
democracy, then my idea of a voting computer in every
household, or public place would be implemented. Basically
it removes congress from power and the people vote on
everything. However this is only possible with a increase in
the quality of education, and a huge govt grant to fund
these tiny voting machines. That and congress would never
vote to put themselves out of a job.

nah, i believe politics should be done by people who know
it, it's a job. which doesnt necesseraly mean that the
people that are in politics are the most qualified, but it
still beats a king that's there because of heritage. mm,
george w..

well im shooting off to bed (again)

as Bowling for Columbine proved, it's not the guns that
really create a violent society... canadians own millions of
guns, yet we don't have much crime at all...

I live in Newfoundland, in Canada, and lots of people own
guns for hunting and stuff... yet there is a person murdered
like every couple of years... so yeah, there you go... the
guns themselves don't make the violent society...

hepburnenthorpe,

no, as I've stated in ... I dunno, throughout the whole
fucking thread; .... .. it's for target practice and that's
it.

I don't have a CCW,I can't legally carry it on me.

Maybe you are a bit off in terms of my country's laws.

Funkmaster,

Thanks for actually taking a minu'''''te second out of your
life to realize the fact that it is the individual person
who creates havoc with guns, instead of an everyday person.

Listen,

I'm sick and tired of you fucks saying this and that about
my country or the gun crazed world.

Keep talking. Because I know in real life (i.e. real life)
you don't have shit going for you.

All you have is this stupid message board (thx, Phob) to try
and throw your reason at me.

Hah!

Keep trying, In real life you don't have shit to go after.
You can try and attack me for owning a "fucking, firearm"
all you want. Point being, that is all you have. You don't
have anything else to base your opinion on....expect the
direction of a mindless tool.

You can only assume.....and nevermind the rest, yer a bunch

You don't know the 2nd thing about any of this other than

All those places in BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE,

uhhh guess what? I've been there or lived there ..... can
you say the same?

No...you can only take a 1sided topic that you agree with
and put forth your life's worth and attention fowards.

hey, guess what.....hah! you are sooooooo offbalance.

maybe you just have to live through it, to realize..

.......to maybe NOT stereotype an entire country.

You folk DO REALIZE, that all I have to do (in southfield,
michigan) is drive 50 - to ONE HUNDRED MILES in EITHER
DIRECTION to come to a part of land that is 180degrees
different than anything I've ever exeperiecned.

You DO understand that,

Just north of here, you will find people who think on an
entirely different level than I could ever imagine.

They are not in another country....they are not in another
state.

They are simply 50 TO ONE HUNDRED miles away.

You guys are so foolish.

I wish we could have a real life "meet" and see just how
fucking accurate everyone really is.

this is too much to read, but i've gotten the gist of it.
I'll just air my opinions for the record.

Elusive: You don't use a fucking HANDGUN for hunting!!!
First of all you'll never get close enough to kill
something, secondly, you won't be ABLE to kill ANYTHING even
if you hit it! Hunting-rifles are for hunting, handguns are
for killing people!

Now.. you say you use it for "fun," which is NO way to use a
gun! Guns are dead fucking serious, and should NEVER be used
for fun! If you claim you are using it for "sport"... well..
I see NO sport in firing a gun. Hitting a target with a bow
is MUCH harder (I've tried both, and even withouth having
fired a gun before, I hit nothing outside of the 8-point
thingie (two circles from the centre. With the bow.. well..
I'd not recommend anyone to stand around the back of that
target...)).

By buying that handgun, you've supported a HUGE industry
that make 97% of their money on war, misery and death!

k, from the top of my head
i've fired a dimaco, fal, glock, mp5, galashnikov, styr,
shotgun, garand, lee enfield, a black gun powder pistol, a
magnum real high calibur, some others i cant remember and a
canon (i dont care that much to remember the correct names)

i once shot a platoon leader in a drill with this system
where there's laser thingies amounted on the gun that fires
blanks which get picked up by a harness that the guy you
shoot weares (miles). i did this laying in the bushes from a
hundred metres to other bushes with a dimaco with a uhm
visor (100 metres is like the minimum you shoot from, but
mind this was in 'real' battle). i heard the guy was really
fucked after that, being made fun of every staff meeting
that he'd been shot by a no-good non-soldier like me (when
scouting the platoon leader should stay in the back of the
platoon to avoid this). i got nicknamed sergeantkiller and a
red baret unofficially awarded.

apart from guns being bad because they kill (i do not like
them too much) you can use them for sports. it is hard
firing from great distance and taking into account the
inaccuracies. you shoot guns and pistols at those point
thingies too. best example: winter olympics sport biathlon,
with the langlaufen and shooting, that's really hard, having
to control your hard breathing from the langlaufen when
firing

Drunken Mastah has a point. Handguns are not for hunting.

A classic example of american attitudes to guns:

I do japanese martial art and went ot japan recently to
study it. In the dojo there were about 30 people, japanese,
american, canadian, germans, czech, irish, english,
argentinian.

Most people there knew how to handle guns, being either in
the security industry (army, police, bodyguards etc). When
the grandmaster started doing some techniques with a
handgun, using it as a close range percussive weapon (like a
hammer) he described the whole last-resort aspect of gun
usage. He asked some of the top international teachers there
to demonstrate some similar things. One american
high-ranking guy took the (replica) gun and started shiteing
on about its calibre, how to fire etc. It was fucking
embarrasing. He was sooooo into it and into proving how he
knew all about guns and he wanted tolecture these
proffesionals on his right to bear arms and shit...He missed
the fucking entire point of the excersice - last resort,
tactical, and proactive use of our skills. He just went off
on one, much to the embarassment of more copped-on americans
there. The grandmaster stopped him and gave the gun to
somebody else. Everyone else in that room was well used to
guns but IN CONTEXT and professionally. any other reason is
immature. For us its the same as any other weapon...knife,
bow, sword, fucking tank. Weilding it gives you the
responsibility to use it professionally and for the good of
society. Target practice for kicks with a handgun is very
childish indeed.

weapons... which is why I don't use them for play...

i would never own a gun, simply because i have children. i
dont see anything wrong in owning one, but if there is a
chance a small child could get a hold of it, its just not
the best thing to have around. i figure if i dont own a
gun, my kids will be safe. now if i could only get my fellow
americans to believe the same stuff, they would be safe
wherever they went.

My friends on the other hand live in an area that has more

they broke into his house.

Look if some crackhead is breaking into your place he

i hate that 'buy a gun to defend yourself' argument man, i
admit that i don't live in a neighbourhood like that, but in
fact you're saying that it'd be best (and most safe) for
everyone to carry a gun when you live in a dangerous
neighbourhood, don't you see that you're going in the whole
wrong direction?

i for one don't think i'd feel more safe with a gun,
when i'd live over there i'd rather be mugged or even shot
(i know it's easy to say, but i really do think so) than to
carry a gun all my life in case i'd be jumped or threatened,
i don't wanna live a life like that

i don't know man, it's like giving in to the situation and
adapt to it, which'd result in more guns and an even more
dangerous world,

again, i know it's easy for me to say, but i really would
refuse to give in to that kind of situation and walk around
with a gun, just in case
