about songs for the deaf...Another love song is the biggest
piece of crap theyve ever written. I dont particularily
care for Go with the Flow or God is in the radio either.
The rest is good but those seem to mess the album up. Hows
their ST and the Desert sessions (are these all worth
getting?)

but, switch, dave grohl is the drummer on the album...
doesn't that mean they suck the corporate cock?

i have to "focus on school" since its the year i have to do
best in for gettin into colleges and whatnot. so my parents
dont usually let me go during the schoolweek but for some
reaosn it almost always works out that the bands I wanna see
come on the weekend(except this 1)

dave grohl is a awsome drummer thats why kurt hired him....
now if dave were to sing then i would think they were going
for cock

grohl has never done anything even that great on any album.
I have yet to hear anything that good from him.

you think that he is a crap drummer ????

switch: but don't you think having him do drums on the album
and tour is attracting a lot of media attention? isn't that,
by your standards, going for the corporate cock?

offline SwitchFrontside on 2002-09-07 03:28 [#00382800]

no.... doing it for money would be sucking corp cock.... and
he was only a temp... now they have a different temp drummer

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-09-07 03:29 [#00382801]

yea but how do you know they weren't doing it for money?
there are thousands of amazing drummers out there they could
have chosen. they knew they'd get a lot of attention for
picking dave, so isn't that bad in your opinion?

offline SwitchFrontside on 2002-09-07 03:33 [#00382808]
Points: 818 Status: Regular

no... i am sure that a band member knew dave and asked him
if he wanted to stand in for a while just to tour and they
liked him and ended up keeping him for the album, now they
got someone else...

theyve known grohl for a very long time thats why he joined
em for this 1, although id prefer if he wasnt on it, theyd
get less attention that way

MoG: i'm just playing devil's advocate. i think switch's
"corporate cock" ideal is fucking stupid, but instead of
ignoring his remarks about groups/artists i like i just take
every chance i get to try to make him realize how stupid his
system is.

its not stupid.... and i have matched every one of your
comments.... and i think you should get over the fact that
the beatles were corp cock suckers

i even don't remember ever discussing the beatles on here
but from what i can tell (and i haven't done enough reading
to reach a definitive conclusion) their late 60s and early
70s music was 100% sincere and earnest. you only think they
were catering to the market cos of the tremendous impact
they had. no, i think your whole evaluation system of
artists is stupid and non-sensical and i really don't think
you've made a good case to justify anything you've said in
that regard.

their late 60s and early 70s music was 100% sincere and
earnest.

how do you figure that ??, they were being told what to make
and how to make it... all they had were dollar signs in
their eyes... listen to the topics in their music... they
tryd to get the christians, the teenieboppers, the people
who liked rock, the free thinkers, its very very obvious
that they were aiming at selling as many copies as possible
to earn the big bucks... sincere hahahah i wouldn't be
suprised if they didn't write their own lyrics ...

oh RIGHT, and i suppose they were going after the christian
audience when they said "none of us believe in god" and
"right now we're even bigger than jesus". your argument, as
usual, is so flawed and baseless that i'm not even going to
go any further.

Back to QOTSA, God is in the radio is a fucking awesome
track!!! Took me a while, mind. Rest of the album is so-so,
the first record is EASILY their best. Kyuss rock, and you
should get all the Desert Sessions, but particuarly 5/6.

thanks Jarworksi, after listening to songs for deaf more I
like all the songs except Another love song which I find
particularily stupid. Ill get all desert sessions and I
only have And then the circus leaves town. I got a lot of
stuff to buy.

I love the s/t the most also. The others are quite good (I
haven't given SFTD much time yet) but the s/t has so much
repeat value. I can listen to it every day.
