how the fuck come Aphex made At the Heart Of It All in the
first place? Was it a remix of something or what?

i just think trent like aphex twin, asked him to remix 2
songs for further down and there it is.

Didn't aphex support NIN in america for a bit?

phux! that's so bizarre. my art group is called 'phux' and
has been since 1997. http://phux.conniption.org

anyway, yea.. afx supported bjork on tour. he's also said he
would like to open for nin, but he never has. as for "at the
heart of it all", it's actually not a remix of nin but an
alternate version of "ventolin".

Titsworth is the central node of all info. that is all you
need to know.

Plus, didnt he support daft punk?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-08-28 21:09 [#00369822]

i dunno about daft punk, i never heard that...

anyway, "ventolin" is what a lot of us aphex twin fans think
inspired "at the heart of it all". it's just similar in a
lot of ways and RDJ has been known to have earlier/alternate
versions (eg: fingerbib, radiator, windowlicker, etc.)

plus i know nin music very well and i don't hear anything
remixed.. besides, it says "created by aphex twin" in the
booklet, instead of "remixed by.."

from what i heard, it's not exactly a ventolin remix, it's
just a track aphex handed to nin and tried to pass it as a
weird remix of some nin song, because he said to nin he's do
a remix (but didnt). when the time came for him to hand the
remix over, he just supposedly burned a random song from his
hard drive and hoped to fool them. same thing for "the
beauty of being numb", the 2nd half.

but trent credited both tracks as aphex's, as he aint no
fool!

What I remember reading is that he had never heard NIN and
mixed some sounds off of 'The Downward Spiral', rather than
a particular song, as he imagined NIN would soundlike.

I does have some of the same sounds as ventolin, but is much
better in my opinion... one of my favorite aphex tracks,
reminds me of the end of the world, good to listen to
followed by vietrmx21 if your in that kind of mood

corngrower, have u heard of the RAMBLEr remix of that song
thats up on the custom part of this site?......if so, I made
it.........and the lyrics of that remix was about the end of
the world. Weird.

yeah, he's says in interviews that he's actually done that
several times, promised a remix for someone, then was too
lazy or just forgot, and when it was time to hand it over,
just grabs an unreleased track out of 'the bin' and throws
em that

lol, oh well...

btw, 'it reminds me of the end of the world' thats pretty
funny if you read the sentence a couple times.

'reminds'. 'end of world'. never happened. lol

I actually heard that it was a reworking of a Coil piece by
the same name... I can hear some parallels --in mood if
nothing else. Has anyone else heard Coil's 'At the Heart of
it All'?
