hey guys,

my school is offering a windows xp deal for students and
teachers. I just picked up windows xp pro for $4.95 and
windows office xp pro for $7.25. i am currently running
windows me. is it as easy as just popping in the
installation discs or are there some precautionary steps
that should be taken before hand. these special editions
did not come with instructions so thats why I'm a little
worried about just throwing them in.

its really easy

the only crap thing about windows xp is the refresh rate w/
open gl games but wft

windows xp is really easy to use/configure/install

just go for it

that's a cool deal...I work in education and those sort of
things are a hidden perk...

and yeah, XP installation is pretty damn easy; I've done
around 10 and all have worked fine, no problems. If your
WinME is running ok then the upg is pretty seamless &
doesn't take too long on decent machine...it's basically sit
back and watch....

Upgrading from Me to XP can me a nightmare though, cause win
XP is more of an upgrade from the 2000/nt software

I'd say you're better off on nearly anything than Windows
ME.
