ok, so uhm, I don't know, for example: you're surfing the web and you hear all these great things about a particular album but you haven't heard it yet.
Curious as you are, you go out and buy it or burn it on cd or whatever.
You put it your cd player and OMG it's crap. Now are you the type of guy/girl that just throws the disc away in the corner and never listens to it again. Or are you that type of guy/girl that'll listen to it a few times more and than make conclusions?
Cuz I've noticed that a lot of albums need some kind of understanding, you have to really get into it to like it. And I can well understand that a lot of people don't make time for this. But how about you?

I have bought CD's and thought they where shit until I impulse played them again and found something. Also my taste changes at times but I never throw a CD away incase I want to listen to it again.

Alot of albums have to catch you in the mood
I thought Geogaddi was no where near as good as MHTRTC, but all i had to do is listen to Julie and Candy when i was in the right frame of mind and i think its a great album now

if i don't hear at least SOMETHING that catches my attention, then i scrap it.
Sometimes though, if there is even one part of one track that I like, or if i know the artist is compitent through other releases i give it a chance.
Some of the greatest albums ever I started out not liking at all.
I returned SAW2 to the record store twice before the 3rd purchace wehn I "got it"

I'm a packrat, so even if I don't like the CD I bought, I'd keep it. I hate throwing anything away.
If I like it alot... I listen to it obsessively. If I like it a little, I'll give it a few listens and then go back to it only occasionally. If I don't like it... it stays anyway! It's a little embarrsing looking back in my CD collection and seeing Creed: My Own Prison. Blech.

Yeah, like IDM before i got into it sounded shit to me. Just like a bunch of fucked up noises. A few of my friends that i hang around with the most listened to it. And when i was around them i listened to it more and more. I then started to like it, and now i can't get enough of it. Any or most IDM is the best music to my ears now. No other genre compares.

i buy a lot of music, dislike it, don't listen to it for months, and then on some strange impulse, pick it up and love it.
other albums i know i'll like but its going to take some work to get to that point.

Never throw records away...they're important lessons of how you found music SHOULD be done...and how it SHOULDN'T be done...
...A collection is a fingerprint on where you were before, where you are now and where you'll be after...

I wanted to start a topic like this so I could talk about Jamie Lidell's = Muddlin Gear. Holy chist on a cracker. Its most definatly the worst IDM album ever in the history of IDM. Besides maybe V/VM = Help Aphex Twin. I heard a song from it and it was pretty neat. I got it only to find out that it was the only good track on it. I cant understand how this guy got signed to warp. People say that his new live stuff is neat. I hope so, cause if it sounds anything like his last album I am going to stay far away from it. I even tried to give it two listenings. But it still sounds like trash. Very awfull smelling trash. It makes me soo mad to think I paid 10 bucks for it. I want to find his email and send him a nasty letter. I played it for my friend is way into braindance, even more then me. And when it was over he was like.... WTF was that. Warning* People stay far away from Jamie Lindell recordings.

Furthermore to this - Assuming this feeling is your bog standard nostalgia. It must be one the, no what I mean is well I've struggled with myself "Should I listen to this album, will it spoil the magic, but I want it back etc Thinking -the closest I've gotten and this is definetely a singular case is with a guy Pete NAmlook cause he makes bucket loads of top quality ambienty electronic head music. I just go get a fresh one and it's nearly as good.
Talking of character traits -I was the other night- my weak will - bad point.

I'm the type who will listen to it again a few times later on. To be honest, I didn't really think Drukqs was all that great the first time around, but then I started listening to it more and it really grew on me. Now it's one of my fave RDJ albums.

honestly, i've never found any full record that didn't appeal me at all at first, then grew a lot on me...
sometimes my appreciations changes quite a lot, but generally about tracks, not complete albums.

I never discard cds after one or two listens... now, if I've owned the cd for a few years, and still hate it, I might sell it... but some of the best albums I've ever heard have taken a while for me to really like them... Passion, by Peter Gabriel took me like a year before I finally was really into it... and for the first year I would go months without listening to it... now I think it's without question the best album I've ever heard, by far...
