Does anybody own one of these Korg ES-1 samplers?
I think I want to buy one. I've been eager to start making songs again, and I'd just like to know if it would be worth purchasing.

hardware samplers are overpriced, and almost outdated
you can get a softsampler for cheap, that can do more

-Kontact
these are 3 top of the line ones to check out

also, virtual samplers are easier to use, because it displays a visual interface... instead of some small little lcd screen

Okay, more info. They have nice effects built right in and I don't know if youa re aware of this, but it doubles as a drum machine/sequencer.
Essentially, you can sample your own sounds in, and then program a beat, texture, whatever. It has something like 95 seconds in sampling time.

If you want a legit piece of hardware... where you can take it out... and to school and have flashy things and decent effects.... its really good.... NIN was suppost to use it for a couple of their albums.... I think mostly for the decimator effect and the distortion.... its good effects on there... and if you resample stuff from your computer on to it its great.... If you want something you can touch and turn and knob twiddle its great

the korg es-1 is an excellent piece of gear- only thing i have to say is be gentle w/ the global delay time knob, it has a tendency to wear out quick (with time scratching and whatnot) and automatically set itself to the 0 parameter no matter where you set the time to- of course there are ways of getting around this problem...
also it has a full effects board and if you already have a mixer and some other gear you can use it as your effects proccessor (which is what i do) anyways I think you should buy it- it's worth it

oh and clic- it has like 2 minutes sampling time, it's just 95 seconds of STEREO sampling time and i have NO FUCKING IDEA why anyone would bother w/ stereo samples, especially if they were just using 'em for drum sequences

I want the es-1, I have the er-1 and that is kinda cool but I am not huge on analog drums right now other than kicks. I was told autechre has used the es-1 here and there I wouldn't be suprised if they did on the gescom work as well. Those korg machines are fun cheap and really nice to get hands on.
although I'm also a software junkie but I like hands on now and then.

Or you could download soulseek and find a crack of fruityloops. which is like an es-1 software version in a nutshell.
