What is it with old people?

Take yesterday as an example....I drove to the Brecon
Beacons in Wales, about an hours drive from where I
live.....beautiful scenery, mountains and hills! There were
lots of elderly people there...who didn't go and enjoy the
scenery, they just sat in the car park with their decks
chairs (facing their car) having their lunch!!!

Is this something that is just unique to the UK? I see it
everywhere I go! I don't get it, you drive all the way
somewhere and sit in the car.....what the hell!!

Another example....I've just come back from the
beach.....there's old folk sat in their chairs again, next
to their cars in the car park.....they don't even go on to
the beach!!!

I find this very bizzare!!! Anyone else notice this?

Their eyes should be donated for surgery and their souls
closed in black tiny boxes.

Yeah - but they might as well stay home! Some where even
sat in the cars??? By the way Jonesy, this was the Knap I
have just come back from....you know the car park I'm on
about!

Yeah. Well if you go there in the evening you will see all
the junior G-men in their max-powered up escorts smoking the
draw. Watch out for them; they're dangerous.

maybe they're just having their lunch before they go see the
landscape, in order not to litter it or not to have to bring
their litter with them...

offline uzim on 2002-08-22 13:50 [#00360129]

...or maybe they're not interested at all in seeing the
landscape, but go there to annoy people by taking one more
place in the car park.

That's another thing......if I arrive late at the car park
of my local beach....there's quite often no place to park
because they've camped out in extra parking spaces!!

I hate coffin dodgers,i think they should all be put down at
a certain age[70 maybe],they should not be allowed to drive
either,as they are the worst drivers.you should be allowed
to run them over if they cross the road, so slowly, not even
looking where there going, only to turn round again when they
see a car[it would be fucking quicker if they just
continued].unless they actually do something good,or have
done something good with their lifes.also they shouldnt be
allowed to drag their nieces/nephews around crappy
places[where all old folk go on bus tours]as its
irritating,and a danger.hope i didnt offend anyone.:D

I was at a junction about three months ago in my g/f's home
town when this old dear with thick glasses, peering over the
wheel started going down the wrong side of the road. I just
looked ahead and saw this old nuttah coming directly towards
us. She scraped along the side of our car before stopping.
Crazy bitch! I love 'em.

sad and pathetic lifes, which WILL never happen to me.I`ve
worked in nursing homes as well[believe it or not]and its
quite sad, they have no lifes. If you have parents, dont put
them in a nursing home, thats my advice, they`ll never be

You guys are pretty harsh.

When I was a child, I loved toys.. transformers mostly. I
can remember thinking that adults were so stupid for not
being into toys. I made a promise to myself that I would
always buy toys and play with them as I got older.

I don't play with toys anymore. I mean, there is a slinky on
my desk but the fact is that when I was a child I had no way
to prepare myself for for the mental changes in store.

Fact: In 7 years every cell in your body will be dead, gone
and replaced with new cells. You will have an entirely
different physical structure.

What I'm trying to say is that when you grow old, there is a
good chance you will be pleased by these exact same things.
Sitting in a lawn chair and eating your lunch facing your
car in a parking lot may not make much sense now, but maybe
50 more years of life experience will make it clear.

Man, you half expect them to turn up in radiation suits!

We are a different generation so perhaps with this in mind
things will be better, when we are like 80 or something will
we still be listening to aphex[our golden oldies]or modern

I love old people....some of my best friends are over
70...and believe me, they are far hipper than you'd ever
dream...

And I dunno about you but if I'd lived thru the abortion
that was the 20th century then the simple act of sitting in

revolutionary freedom...perhaps I overstate..I dunno..

These people have lived...I respect em in the way I'd like

I HATE walking home and having old people on their front
step just staring at the fucking surroundings... and
watching me... I just want to turn to them and throw a rock
at their wrinkly faces.

How the fuck can that entertain them? When I'm old, I hope I
still have a brain and will NOT be entertained by watching
people walk and making them uncomfortable while I piss in my
Depends.

Maybe it's because I've never really known my
grandparents...or maybe because i've had a lot of bad
experiences with elderly customers, but i have developed a
prejudice against geriatrics.

I work in a coffee shop in the mall and we have a lot of old
customers. In the mornings, before the stores open, old
people like to go into the mall corridors and jog or walk or
whatever at like 7 in the morning every day.

I've noticed that the number of impatient, rude customers is
much higher with the old than with the young.

There are the nice sweet old people though, so they're not
all bad.

i just realy hate old people....
there is no explination why they cannot do simple things
such as swipe their credit card !!!!... they give it to me
to swipe !!! hahaha screw that as if i am going to do that
?, they are perfectly compitent at swiping the card but they
think i am a but monkey or something ......
and why the hell do they stare so much ???.... if i go down
the street wearing anything that isn't sold at a
teeniebopper shop the stupid fucks will stare at me till i
am too far away for them to see me .....
another point is rudeness.... for example if i am at work
and the coffie machine is broken i kindly apoligize and say
that it will be repaired as soon as possible.... then they
HAVE to say something real stupid under their breath like
"thats typical of you" or something like that as if it were
my fault that some old cunt just like them couldn't work the
machine and probably inserted the foam cup into the coin
slot hoping for expresso to pop out....... oh well.... thats
my bitching done for today ...

I myself have been studying this problem for several months
now. Based on my analysis, they do it to piss off people.
These people become so pissed off that they can't even enjoy
the time that they were supposed to, for example, enjoying
landscape. They have much fun at social events telling
their stories to each other.
You didn't hear this from me though, they vowed that they
would take me on a world tour of fascinating landmarks and
beaches while they didn't look at them if word got out.
Have mercy.

Jand has a point. I think our generation will be less
amiable as we get older because we've had it a fair bit
easier. I mean, how many of us have been to fight in a war,
or lose a partner in a war?

That said, I was walking into a charity shop the other day
and held the door open for an old woman. However, she looked
like she was going to go past the shop and so I let it go.
She was at that distance where you are not expected to hold
the door anyway. But when it closed she walked into it and
had a look on her face of pure disgust. I felt like knicking
her handbag. There are quite a few twisted, bitter old
fuckers like this woman who are merely jealous of my youth
and agrieved that they're going to die soon. My town is like
a giant geriatric home so there's quite a few of them
about.

But we can't generalise; there are cool old people who I
love to listen to when they recount their experiences and
then there are Mrs Sourface above.

yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how our
generations deal with getting older...we have been cossetted
and take so much shit for granted; how the hell does such a
youth obsessed culture deal with ageing?...I look around me
at the moment & see the way we treat old people now & I know
it's going to get worse rather than better...

My Grandmother spent her last few years dying in our
house...she was my mothers mother and I'll never forget the
diginity and love & the things my mum had to go thru as her
mother went slowly senile & faded before us all...I think
maybe experiencing such a close death that as a lad has
affected my attitude immensely...

I was thinking about this on the bus this morning (cause I
felt I'd been a bit harsh to good old Jedi Chris and I worry
about things like that & wanted to post again)...old people
I know are scared a lot of the time, it's tough enough
having to deal with a body/mind that doesn't fit anymore &
the thought of the end etc. I think that's the key to
having a more sypathetic attitude, realising that fear
drives a lot of their actions...

Yea
I think You're all being a bit harsh. Not every single old
person sits on a deck chair. Many will laugh at those old
people. They realise they're not strong enough to get onto
the beach so they don't bother going, go gambling instead.

I can't wait till I'm old so I can shout at kids and hit
them and get away with it. "He's just old and senile". "GIT
ORF MA BINS!! GIT DAAN YOUR OWN END!"

great stuff
