best fight scenes on film are with Toshiro Mifune in Yojimbo
& Sanjura
Why?
Blink and you miss 'em and they're "realistic"
Bruce lee is CRAP! I put him with van damn, norris and the
rest. Ego-headed nonsense. For pure style "the legend of Su
fayook" is amazing, but fantasical. I've never seen a
desent, "real" one!
It'd be so easy to do it without the slo-mo wire stuff and
still have ya go WOW. I know, i've trained for 6 years with
the best!!!!

Drunken Master is the best kung foo flic I have seen.
Summary...... Jackie chan experiments with this new form of
kung foo.... very unorthadox teqnique where alchohal is used
to losen up the mind and the body..... what a great movie

Return of the Drunken Master is a funny one. Johnny Chang as
a fugitive acupunturist :)

Jet Li's pretty cool--I like Black Mask and Fist of Legend a
lot, and also Twin Warriors. Iron Monkey is good, too.

Jackie Chan flicks are usually entertaining, too, but they
tend to get a little repetetive/boring. The Legend of
Drunken Master and Shanghai Noon are probably my two
favorite of his. Who Am I? was pretty good, too. I like the
fight sequence towards the end where he fights the tall then
white guy and the asian guy on top of the building.

Jakie Chan ...repetetive/boring ..... no way hose

he is my hero!

kung-fu movies are some of the greatest movies ever
made, when the cheography is good, its amazing what they come
up with.
I love what they can do with wires,Iron monkey on top of the
fiery poles, twin warriors is way other the top, fist of
legend is brilliant[yuen woo ping is a master]as well as
once upon a time in china, the last hero in china, drunken
master etcetc...
there even better when your stoned,i used to hate city
hunter[sure its cheesy, tacky, stupid]but me & my friends were
in hysterics watching it stoned.
the american stuff is shit though[hollywood kung-fu],apart
from the matrix, drive was alright as well,I seen a french
film called the brotherhood of the wolf, which surprisingly
had some kung-fu[as well as a cgi monster].

I recently watched a movie called kung-pow,an american piss
take[full of special fx,the main charecter is inserted into
old kung-fu movies,re-dubbed]avoid this movie as its a head
fuck.some good ideas but the only good bits is a matrix
inspired fight with a cgi cow,and a deleated scene, where he
takes out the bad guys with his erection!!

Everyone should watch City Hunter movie starring Jackie
Chan.....
One of the funniest films I have ever seen (Jackie playing
the part of Chun-Li at one point!!) and the fight/action
scenes are breathtaking!!

Come on you can't call Bruce Lee CRAP! Commercial maybe but
he was f*cking good!

Bruce Lee was a true master....he lived & breathed
Jeet-Kun-Do...
Jackie is much more exciting now as he is more fo a showman
& brucey was purely a poser (sorry but he was in his newer
films).

He still remains as the greatest Martial Artist of our
generation but sadly is remembered mostly for Enter the
Dragon (which is sooooo overplayed it is dull as buggery
now)!

bruce lee is low quality man. I believe everything in that
"Dragon: brice lee story" film and he was an absoulte
asswipe....not a single endearing qulaity about the guy. A
kid who wanted the american dream and made up a amrtial art
that suited the punters..... the Britney Spears of martial
arts he was. I want the Squarepusher of martial arts
films...but he don't exist!

I'm not serious about Jackie Chan. He's OK. I'm not

Bruce Lee was an arrogant git yeah, but he had skillz.

He did have amazing skills, but he was so grounded!
Jackie is everywhere at once and can take on more than 1 guy
at a time (unlike Lee in his films.........although who
knows what he woulda been like if he'd tried huh?)

wot do u mean bruce only took 1 at a time. hav u seen fist
of fury! he takes on like 30 guys or sumthing.

that sed tho. i like jackie chan coz he is really inventive
with props + stuff. i dont like jackie chan coz i h8 his
slapstick ways + crap comedy. bruce lee woz a poser but he
had real emotion wen he fought. b4 he bcame an actor he used
2 go + mug ppl + get in proper kung fu street fights. jet li
is good but is the keanu reeves of kung fu (ie pretty boring
2 watch wen hes not fighting or doin sumthing kool). if
there woz sum1 who combined jackie chans inventiveness and
bruce lee's presence then we wud hav 1 of the greatest
martial arts legends of the day

you have to have respect for jackie chan, some of the stuff
he pulls off is amazing[too many stunts to list].bruce lee
looked like he had power in his fights [and those
nunchaku`s].Jet li is brilliant as well, how can you not
respect these men.
I would like to see Donnie yen in more films,he was amazing
in iron monkey and once upon a time in china 2.
I have all the films already mentioned :)
mr hack, get drunken master, project a and snake in eagles
shadow, they`ve got some brilliant action[drunken master
being the best].the legend of fong sai yuk is alright, watch
it stoned as it has a brilliant/long fight running along an
audiences heads :D,the sequal is alright[nothing special].
no ones mentioned crouching tiger, hidden dragon, hehe

what do you lot think of the 2-hand gun[gun-fu]movies like
hard boiled, the killer, the god of gamblers etc etc.?

donnie yen is gradually breaking through. he woz ok in blade
2 + he is directing/producing? a swordplay film called the
princess blade which looks really cool.

i hav hard boiled which is wicked + obviously i have 2 get
the killer soon. i hav other stuff mainly through hong kong
legends such as purple storm, 2000AD and other stuff.

in his day john woo woz a genius in his element but now hes
fairly burnt out. u watch hard boiled + then broken arrow or
sumthing. wot happened?

you DONT have the killer??!!,its probably better than
hard-boiled[arguably],the final shoot-out in the chuch makes
it an all time classic.I know what you mean about the new
john woo movies, apart from face off, there all shite really.

I have a lot of the Hong Kong legends movies[purple
storm, beast cops and a lot of the films already
mentioned]but whats 2000ad like, almost bought it when it
came out, there was another film as well[cant remember the
name]it was yuen woo ping,set on a boat[2-disc dvd]and was
wondering whats that like?

Yuen Wo Ping
-----------------------------------------------------------
---------------------
AKA: Big Eyes (Nickname), Yuen Woo Ping

Profession: Action director, actor, director, producer,
writer

Born: 1945 (Guangzhou, China)
[ Filmography ]

Coming from an industry hailing nearly as many action
directors as celebrities, Yuen Wo Ping has distinguished
himself as one of the best and certainly most recognizable
Hong Kong action director in the world.

Born in Guangzhou in 1945, Wo Ping was the eldest of twelve
children belonging to famed actor Simon Yuen Siu Tin. Siu
Tin was trained in the Peking Opera and had found work on a
long running series of films chronicling the exploits of
Wong Fei Hung, a Chinese folk hero. Having trained Wo Ping
in Peking Opera, his father introduced the young man to
producers of the series who gave Wo Ping work during the
'60's. As kung fu films gained popularity in the early
'70's, Wo Ping migrated to Shaw Brothers who used him in
small parts and as a stuntman in such films as The Chinese
Boxer (1970) and Duel of Fists (1971).

Mad Killer (1971) became Wo Ping's first official film as
action director, a position that was highly regarded in an
industry dominated by action-oriented films. The film was
directed by Ng See Yuen who went on to found Seasonal Films,
an independent production house where Wo Ping would
eventually direct his first feature starring a relatively
unknown actor named Jackie Chan in Snake in the Eagle's
Shadow (1978). Yet, it was the following film entitled
Drunken Master, also starring Jackie that truly propelled
both men into mainstream success. Wo Ping went on to work
for Golden Harvest who was emerging as the leading movie
studio in Hong Kong where he would work with other budding
stars like Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao on The Magnificent
Butcher (1979) and Dreadnought (1981). In 1979, Wo Ping
formed the Wo Ping Films Company whose first project was The
Buddhist Fist (1979) which co-starred Siu Tin who appeared
in many of his son's film

often as an elder drunken boxing master or mischievous
beggar.

The next milestone in Wo Ping's career came in 1984 when he
wisely cast a talented young martial artist in Drunken Tai
Chi. Donnie Yen Ji-Dan had become his protégé after being
discovered two years earlier. His experience with Wo Ping
would lead him to become a notable international action
director himself. In the meantime, Wo Ping featured him in
several increasingly sophisticated action films set in
modern times. Then a revival of classic martial arts film
led by director Tsui Hark in the early '90's brought the all
three together in Once Upon a Time in China II (1991). For
the next five years, Wo Ping redefined Hong Kong action by
creating increasingly elaborate fights employing wires and
imaginative choreography that more closely resembled his
former Peking Opera roots than much of the Chinese boxing
that Bruce Lee once made popular. Iron Monkey (1993) stands
as perhaps his best film from this era and certainly an
excellent example of his kinetically fluid style of action.

Having already gained cult status among genre fans and new
wave filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, it came as little
surprise that the Wachowski brothers, themselves fans of
Hong Kong cinema would tap Wo Ping's skill in creating their
vision of an action comic book come to life in The Matrix
(1999). The film's tremendous success, coupled with a
growing interest in Hong Kong film after Jackie Chan's
successful Hollywood entry led to the creation of Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), directed by Ang Lee. By
matching the epic fantasy elements of Lee's favorite Chinese
swordplay films from his youth with a Western aesthetic, Wo
Ping was able create a uniquely dramatic and breathtaking
series of action sequences that general audiences worldwide
could identify with.

By effectively showing what even actors not trained in
martial arts are capable of, Master Yuen Wo Ping continues
to push the boundaries of action cinema. With sequels to The
Matrix, a Quentin Taran

It's an oldie but goody!
