'Heliosphan' has a place in my heart also...amazing that
such a simple, repetitive melody can hook itself into you so
easily.....};>

how can you say Pulsewidth sucks. Thats one of my faves.
Xtal and We are the music makers and PULSEWIDTH are the best
on that album.

THA is beyond cool...one of the few tracks I'll never tire
of...so simple but just plain bewitching, & I love that
cyclical theme bassline/melody that runs thru it...

& I know I always say this about THA, but it sounds just as
good at 50% speed (using the Winamp plugin)...the bottom end
gets so smoothly deep at that speed, as you'd expect if
you're pitch-shifting down an octave like this....

This CD is one of my Favs from the twin. I like to hear him
playing synths and everything as a mellow dreamy tone (apart
from one track I can't stand that is louder then the rest).
It's more of a traditional musical layout and tho I love his
new crazy fast tracks I still love to dig up his old tracks
and hear something a bit more accessible like Analogue
Bubblebath. It's a shame he won't make music like this
again, He seems to want to go in the direction of Cock 10
etc. Perfectly fine but a shame to loose the trad layouts.
Early Aphex Twin always floats my boat is what i'm trying to
say I guess.

yeah, I hear what you're saying re: early AFX and how he's
totally distanced himself from that sound now...but that's a
good thing to my mind...better that he moved on and
developed other sounds/styles/directions than keep going
over the same ground...

Think I would've got bored with AFX ages ago were it not for
his genius way of re-defining himself at each turn....I
can't think of many other artists who have pulled it off
with a much success as AFX...

I love early Aphex and would have still listened to that
style for years but when I heard Windowlicker I was blown
away.

saw 85-92 is good, but it's not really an album i listen to
often. The 10 year old technology just bores me, I guess. I
can still find the same beautiful melodies in some Drukqs
songs!

Just my opinion tho :)

XTAL (could be better sound quality tho, I know its old and
stuff but I would love to hear that track mixed and
mastered) some say its just good that the track sounds "un
mixed shitty n old".

I like the sound of saw1, sounds kind of dusty and
atmospheric.

All that "old technology=outdated music" debates are
pointless. It's just music that is good or not. You can have
latest technology in your bedroom and still have nothing to
say... SAW I is timeless. In my opinion its beauty lies in
poor sound quality and mistakes. I can't imagine SAW's sound
recorded in 24/96 technology using ProTools or something.
