I'm guilty of this.

Do you guys bother to read them all?
Is it all just an exercise in fultility?
Is there too much information in the world to properly
digest, so we all just eat the candy?

This post could've been longer but...

I can never be arsed to read big posts

If i have to scroll to read it then I don't bother, but
that's not always a good thing, I could be missing out on
the best post ever

I admit i rarely read long posts :( Maybe if you style them
so they are easy to read, and look less like a huge block of
black :) like put line breaks! :)

You asked for it:

Several of us, if we fell we have much to offer on a
particular subject, tend to go on and on and on and on and
on and on and on, and because we think we know what we're
saying, and because we think others want to read what we're
typing, and because what we're saying is so important, we
tend to ignore the etiquette of KISS and we elaborate and
paraphrase and allow ourselves to go off on long tangents
about things that may or may-not be related to the original
topic, but we don't care cause we're off on a rant that we
don't recognizethe rant as a rant...but it might not be a
rant, because we're sure what were saying is a legitimate
response to someone else's comments or questions, etc.

I usually catch myself, but some times I don't and I end up
posting this long, usually amusing (at least to myself),
message. When I read other posts, depending on how much time
I have, I may or may-not skim the long posts, especially if
they don't hit me as useful, amusing.

I'm curious as to other peoples reactions when they see a
post that trails down past the bottom of the screen. Is it
worthwhile, or do people automatically ignore it?

(of course, if you ignore this post because of the size, I
probably won't get a response...oh! the futililty...)

oh yeah,

and in the amount of time it takes to write a long message,
you'll have been already knocked off queue for the post
you're responding to...

I'm definately guilty of that, I've actually typed things
beyond v5's message capacity and lost the end of my message.
I know noones reads them, but sometimes I get interesting
thoughts out when I go off on those tangants, know what you
mean. I don't post enough to be one of the "thoughest"
posters, whatever that means.

Interestingly enough, if you go to dictionary.com and type
in thoughest, it will say 'No Results Found', and give you a
list of suggestions of what you could have meant. The
second on this list of suggestions is 'Take a shit' which I
was both surprised and amused to find in any dictionary, no
matter how informal.

How's that for a tangent?

long posts can be the life blood of a messageboard..they can
be entertainging and an enlightening experience..and since
from what I have read on this thread half you have dozed off
right about NOW..I will tell you things that make so sense
what so ever like my habit of sticking feathers up my butt
and clucking like a chicken as I think obscene thoughts
about locomotives and freight trains...and right about here
I will type in something of minor consequence like..it is
great being on this messages board with so many
intellectually gifted people who alas never bother to post
and let us intellectually challenged prats prattle on and
on...phew that was a load off my chest especially the bit
about clucking like a chicken and it's very likely that my
shameful secret is still safe..

all of you guys are great

Xanatos' post was a HELL of a lot easier to read than yours,
cuz his was split in two.

Seriously... paragraphs make a BIG difference... well, to
ME, at least. Am I not the only one?

So... next time divide your post up, for fuck's sakes!!!!
:-)
