...and so being a fan of Aleksi Perala for a while now, and being the manager a record store, I thought to order in a copy of the recent Astrobotnia release... ...track 3, "Everyone," featured a sampled voice chanting "I want to kill.. everyone... satan is good... Satan is our pal..." in a continuous loop... For some strange reason, I knew where this sample came from, and so I checked my old videos for verification. 1989's cult classic "The 'Burbs," starring Tom Hanks and Rick Ducommon (owner of that voice) is the source. While discussing satanism in the basement, about halfway into the movie, that chant comes up, and later can be heard droning on in Tom Hanks's nightmare... So, is the new Astrobotnia living up to my expectations? Aye... Ovuca... I mean Aleksi also just got bonus cake points for sampling one of my favourite "camp" films. The rest of the album is wicked too, although clocks in a bit too short... |

Check out Part 3 as well...works better for me than Part 1 (but I listened to death those AS MP3s on Rephlex well before release so Pt 1 was kinda no suprises bythe time it was released...)... Part 2 continues to vex me :)...some of it's fucking good...but some is just bad bad bad...there are certain breaks used that just make me cringe... |

hehehehehehe!!!! i chant it a lot aswell! :D jand- im the same with you with spoiling the surprise with them mp3s... part 3 i did love when the mp3 samples where on rephlex.... but i listen to part 2 the most. |

yeah, they were bloody good little mixes tho; I kinda think the tracks worked better in the context of a longer mix, but thats just personal preference really... they made me buy the CD so I guess they worked their magic... |

Instructions for a fun-filled evening with your special someone/no one: 1. Do not sleep for thirty-six hours... This will sharpen you up and make you ready for a little bit of the old ultraviolence... 2. Light candles; two to each room... 3. Dim/kill the lights in your flat/house... 4. Employ a *vinyl* copy of Richard D. James's occassionally threatening Selected Ambient Works Vol. II... 5. Find the second platter, or the"C" side, with the four rust coloured pictures... Drop the needle on the second track (somewhere close to the beginning of the song)... This track, the ninth song on the first SAW II CD, commonly referred to as "Tree," will set the perfect mood... 6. Ingnore your spouse/date, max out the volume to distorted levels, and proceed to a nearby mirror where you can see your reflection and hear the music... By now your "friend" will be asking questions... 7. Continue to ignore your other, and proceed to chant whatever you wish in the mirror. Stare into your own eyes deeply and feel the shiver of terror overcome you... Hopefully, the vinyl will start to skip and will complement your chanting... 8. At this point, frightening things will begin to happen that a rational, sane person will notice and avoid... you, on the other hand, are quite at odds mentally and should be too delirious to stop now... 9. Hallucinations and broken mirrors... invocation of the spirit... candles blow themselves out. 10. In horror, your date flees, and you are left in the mouth of madness... ...And Hey! Try it again with White Blur 1 playing, though you will have less time to do all of the above in... You must use vinyl, though, or else you'll lose too much subconscious-affecting frequency... No MP3's people... |
