She's an electronic musician...did some film scoring as well as sound generation using synth's back when u needed a advanced degree in engineering to operate the frigin things. They featured an unused song on the Shining DVD which was never put in the final film, but was pretty cool. Anyone have any of her stuff?

All I have is the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. I had Switched On Bach 2000 but tossed it. If I can find the original Switched On Bach i'd love to give it a listen.

i got the record he did just after switched on bach, same things with other great composers, it's a hard work he did with his moog on that. I was surprised to read one day he changed sex short after switched on bach, the journalist made a point with the influence the moog's sound had on the mind of people, anyway Walter/Wendy Carlos made good use of the moog back then.

Yeah, there was an excelent interview with Robert Moog a couple of years back in THE WIRE and it demonstrated how big is the influence of technology on modern music. Of which we all are aware I guess, listening to IDM etc....

bitch/bastard is incredible, i love 'tron', 'the shining' (i've heard the bootleg full score), 'a clockwork orange', the collab w/ weird al (not even joking here), switched on bach, and some of her other stuff like digital moonscapes (i think that's the right title). one of the most important people in the history of electronic music. underrated too.

dunno, i got it off audiogalaxy.. you're best off looking up info on the (japanese?) bootleg score (ripped from the master tapes) in order to get the track titles, then look those up on slsk

Look this Wendy Carlos person had the audacity to sue Momus because of a song he wrote about her. He eventually had to take the song off his "Little Red Songbook" LP which is a shame because the song licks major ass.
So a hardy boo to Wendy Carlos. I will never, ever buy/download anything she's done.

Alright... maybe I'm stupid, but was Wendy a WALTER, once upon a time? My ''sense of humor'' detector isn't working right this evening.
Bitch/bastard? (S)He?
Well, dick or not, I LOVE the Clockwork Orange soundtrack, even if the synths sound a little dated.

no doubt (S)he had a hand in creating some of the technology. (S)he went to Columbia and majored in Music/physics. And at the time moogs were very popular and only a hand ful of people got the chance to use and design them...since then everythings gone to software or digital///instead of analog
=== thats pretty freaky that they credited both Wendy and Walter...personally though, i could give two shits about that(sex change thing). yea it is kinda freaky...but If the musics good i listen.
