sometimes I just kind of stop and think
"this is amazing music"
(IDM)
i mean... shit man
its just fucking great
i cant imagine why its not more widely accepted, and recognized as a "legit" form of music.
Its just so fucking great

It IS great. Music is great. It gives my life meaning and hope. And IDM, by virtue of being awesome as hell, gives me large doses of ''hope''. I am not making sense.

There's no restrictions on this music like there are on other kinds....
It's like the cliche "It's all about the music"
It's not about how fast the drummer is or how good looking the guitarist is or what ranges the singer can reach or what kind of technique the pianist has or what country or culture or language it comes from, it's just about the music...that's why the frequent 'man of mystery' persona goes so perfectly with the genre.
As for acceptedness, Computer Generated Music will grow tremendously over the next 50 years or so...that's not to say that it will be "IDM" (or, in other words, any good)

Oh yeah! There was a period a few months ago that I got really depressed because I was so in love with all kinds of excellent music that I want to listen to forever, and I got all thinking about death and stuff. Anyway, this music is sometimes too awesome to believe it even excists.

GREAT response ResEvi! Zeus, I think the fact that this music isn't more "mainstream" speaks volumes about the poor state of society. It proves that the average person is really not intelligent at all.
I do believe that this music will be looked back upon by the "mainstream" as genius in decades to come, tho...
mark my words!

Hmm... ideal and romantic but I don't think it would happen.... Shame. I'd love that to happen.

you can hear idm influences in loads of commercial tunes these days-- of course it's watered down so's not to offend but it's there all the same... idm is definatley not the most popular of genres- but it is one the the most influencial as far as dance music is concerned.
