Out of curiosity, how many of you are on Broad Band, and
with which ISP?

I have had a few problems with them but overall I am pleased
with their service. I would wait though until they offer
free installation or be cheeky like I was I tell them you
want it for free :)

You could try...

'If we had a faster connection I wouldn't be on here as
much, we could do a feng shui cookery course together...I
could make a 'love seat' at carpentry class for us....etc.'

Sounds a good plan :)

I'm planning on using the "I need it for my course" line
when I go back to uni next year...

depends on it. ;)

The cable internet around here is TERRIBLE, sure, you get a
clean 1MB down stream, but when it goes out for days at a
time and the DSL around here is wonderful, its not a hard
choice. Used to have Verizon at 756dw512up for around $40 a
month, it was perfect for running CS and TFC servers. Now Im
stuck with SBC 256dw/128up for around $30, although Im
getting it upgraded soon, i want my speed back :(

I'm on M Powered DSL, it's about 40 bucks a month or
something. I get about 40kb/s on average from Soulseek, but
it gets up to 120 sometimes. And about 70kb/s if I download
something off the net from a good site.

It's very reliable, hasn't gone out in ages.

I've probably had about 7 hours in total downtime in the
past 6 months. Before that there were major problems with
one of the UBR's in my area which meant the network lost its
downstream on a regular basis. This worked out quite good
though because I just kept on phoning Telewest and
complaining and I got 3 months free :)

My top speed is 300 kb/s
I pay about 25 € per month i think? but its more like
12.50€ cus i share the connection with my brother thru a
rauter.

I wish i had a service called "bredbands bolaget" wich is
about 10 Mb/sec but that is not awalible for everyone at the
moment .

is such a thing even affordable for your average joe?

I know you can get like OC192 which is over 100MB downstream
but that shits gotta cost thousands....
