Autechre - Dial the Journal

Well, the Japan version of Oversteps has been announced
and, not surprisingly (like most all Autechre releases
before it), a bonus track has been added for this edition.
This 15th track is called "Dial the Journal".

See on see for yourself

I hope it fits nicely as an ending as "nu-Nr6d" did for
Quaristice. At least they're not tacking on live recordings
like on Confield and Untilted.

the translated page to english is a bit weird:

"Mon 3 will be released in 2010 (leading Japanese CD, will
be available early October)"

Oversteps will come out in OCTOBER???

Japanese editions usually come out after their Europe/US
release, one of the reasons why they get an extra track.

i don't think so in this case. I got the japan Quaristice
very shortly after the US/UK release. Were talking 7 months?

Shouldn't you be messing around trying to make websites?

You're too kind! Looks like I'll get a few more before you
do any web designing effort.

there is already a thread for Oversteps, this does not merit
its own thread. if it does, then a thread should be made for
every track on Oversteps, and they each should be titled
"Autechre - see on see", etc.

this is a thread for the Japan edition of Oversteps, which
I'd say the bonus track warrants it's own news
announcement.

Thanks for playing.

Yeah, but your lack of knowledge on release schedules and
not actually hearing the track make it redundant. Join the
actual thread and maybe someone will talk about your
concern.

I think this merits its own thread. Usually the bonus tracks
are shit, though. At least the one on Confield.

it has already been confirmed that the bonus track is not
called "Dial The Journal" as this was an error in the
translation

to be fair, you've got a lot of points...shows that you've
been around xlt for a while. we ruffians can be quite the
cunts.

fact is, amongst a slew of track names that make as much
sense as putting your dick into a meat grinder, you think
that a bonus track would have a cohesive enough name to be
able to say it?

hang on, i think i need to actually need to re-iterate the
track listing for you just so you can understand the point
i'm making

01 - r ess
02 - ilanders
03 - known(1)
04 - pt2ph8
05 - qplay
06 - see on see
07 - Treale
08 - os veix3
09 - O=0
10 - d-sho qub
11 - st epreo
12 - redfall
13 - krYlon
14 - Yuop
15 - Dial the Journal

as you can see, Dial the Journal does rather stick out like
a sore thumb. look, it's even bold and italicised. it wasn't
me that made the text bold and italicised, but it was in
fact just the autechre-ness screaming out at you "how could
this possibly be an autechre track name?"

also, i feel that it is my duty to inform you that online
translators should in no way be upheld as authoritative, as
they tend to translate words "literally" and do not always
take into account grammatical differences, contextual
differences, masculine/feminine differences etc etc etc.

come back to class next week and we'll discuss how not to
converse in a chat room, and how it is a bad idea to google
for the term "goatse"

Point taken, oscillik.

Really though, i don't think "Dial the Journal" is so off
the mark. Sure the title is insipid, not in Autechre-speak,
and does stand out from everything else in the tracklist.
Remember though, they have tossed in titles like "The
Trees", "Stop, Look, Listen" and "Theme of Sudden
Roundabout" (not to mention the names of almost every track
pre-Tri Repetae). That's why I didn't question it, but
reading from a translated page I should have sought another
source. I simply didn't know about this HMV site.

I'm relieved that "Dial the Journal" is NOT the official
title. "Xektses sql" is sooooo much cooler, even if I can't
pronounce it! :/

If only I could edit the title of this thread...

"to be fair, you've got a lot of points...shows that you've

I had stopped posting after I reached 1000 and was gone from
here for a few months, but news of "Oversteps" is the only
reason I came back in.
